I took apart my control panel to add a new overlay and swap out the buttons on my Mario Bros cab.

The switches for the joysticks screwed back in just fine but for some reason I can't get the switches for the push-buttons to connect back to the assembly. The screws are just too loose to hold it in place.

I guess I should have paid more attention when I took it apart. These are different than anything else I've worked on. No schematic or any pics I've looked at online show anything different than what I am trying.

Anybody have any ideas what I've done here? Attached pic.

There should be a flat piece of metal that is has a threaded hole in it. Did you put that between your switch and housing or something?

The screw goes through the housing, then the switch, then into that threaded piece of metal.

I thought that might be it, but the screws are just as loose in there.

Figured it out. It turns out there are 2 different types of threaded-washer-type things. I has used the ones with the smaller holes on the switches for the joysticks. Each switch has a washer that raises it off the control panel just a bit.

Thanks for helping me think this through.

That is a good thing for me to know. Im also going to replace my mario bros cp overlay tomarrow.
