So I'm a bit confused, all 4 of my nintendo cabs have backdoors that have the original K6510 locks and I finally got some keys to try them out. When turning the cam/barrel the metal arm (for lack of a better term) doesn't catch on anything. On all of them it doesn't look like wood was cut out since they all look identical, but there is a gap where I would think a wood piece is supposed to go so the lock can be secured on to it. They must have been removed to take doors off when keys were lost? Been trying to find pictures of what that originally was supposed to look like. Anyone have a pic?

Yeah I know its minor, but instead of using screws to hold the back doors on - using keys would be so much nicer!

There's a metal plate that goes into the indentation in the wood in the back door. They're really hard to find too.

Ok so still a bit confused, Is the metal piece your referring to pictured here? That appears to be just a bezel slider piece which I have but does not slide back far enough to catch on the lock. Should it? or is there another metal piece I am missing?

Thanks for the visual.

Please don't screw... in the back door!

No. The piece you are missing is a small metal plate that sits in the shallow routed area around the lock on the back side of the door. The plate screws to the back door and has a hole in it shaped like the lock, with rounded sides and a flat top and bottom, so the lock won't spin.

I see. I can't even find a part number for it in the manuals nor have seen an actual picture of it. I always wondered why the lock itself sits loosely on the door. Does anyone actually have a pic of it they can post?

The search begins!!! x4!

Twistedquarter sells these:

Size: 2-3/16' L x 1-1/4" W x 3/32" Thick
.640 hole

If you are asking what the lock latches to... both my ninty cabs latch to the bezel slider piece. If it is suppose to latch to something else, then both of mine are missing that part too???

I think so. I'll try to pull it out and see if I can get some better pictures this weekend, but maybe it would be good to get some other opinions with pics.

Pics Phet?

Here is what you are looking for.

I took the lock apart on my restore that I am doing and snapped a picture of the metal bracket. This is what holds the lock in place on the nintendo back doors.

Ok - I do have that part on all my lock setups, but its still not clear to me how the lock catches to the inside of the nintendo cabinet..

The cam catches on the wood of the cabinet. Mine doesn't have a strike plate installed for added protection, but you could put one on, nbd. I didn't see any screw holes in my cab to indicate one was there previously though.

interesting...I guess I'll play around some more and maybe take some pics. Mine definately doesn't catch on the wood from what I see.

What are you talking about? The cam is the 'tongue' piece that attaches to the end of the lock on the inside and turns up or down with the key to either lock or unlock the door. The wood he is talking about is the inside of the panel that sits above the back door. If you don't have that piece or it's not turning up behind that panel, your lock wouldn't work even with the back plate that should also be on the door to keep the barrel from turning.

It's not the best photo, but it was already uploaded in my picasa storage. The cutout in the wood is normal - the cutout gives the lock the clearance it needs. You can't really see the cam since the bezel bracket is in the way, but it turns up and catches on the cabinet.

Excellent - this is very helpful. I believe I'm missing that tiny wooden piece that is between the gap.

Just to be clear the bezel holder does not hit the lock on yours right?

Correct, the bezel bracket does not touch the lock. They are probably a few inches apart from one another.
