Dumbass Question of the Week: Can anyone tell me what router bit I use to accomplish the cut necessary on a piece of plywood to make the bottom of a Nintendo back door?

Hmmm... I would trace the opening onto the new piece and then drill a hole in each of the four corners (using the right radius drill bit) and then jigsaw the rest out.

I have no problem cutting the door to size... I just don't know what router bit to use to make the bottom "notch" cut...

Ah, I thought you were asking about the opening at the bottom, like this pic from Chance's post:

i've always just used a table saw to cut notches with. Adjust the height of the blade to the correct height, and run it across the saw. Stand the plywood up and then run it through again (adjusting the height and guide as needed).

i was like... hey, i recognize that picture... Oh wait! thats mine! :D haha

I didn't use a router to make the rabbet (the "notch"), i just did a couple passes with a table saw. I'm no where near home so i can't measure it for you, but i know it was ¼" depth as that was half of the ½' panel. Might have been a 0.25" x .025" now that i think about it.

then of course the hole for the power cord, best to clamp some scrap to the panel and use a forsner bit, as it sits just off the wood surface, and i didn't want to chip out the nice new rabbet i had made.

No access to a table saw unfortunately...

:(

Just get a rabbit or straight cut bit with a bearing for the router.
They have different size bearings to control the width of the cut.
You just need to set the depth on the router.
No guide needed. Easiest way to do it. It is more of a pain to run a big piece of plywood on the table saw.
This is what you need http://www.toolstoday.com/p-5100-mu...35wmTvksp0QElfcgA8e7ERoC2rLw_wcB&refresh=true
I have one with multiple bearings for different widths.

Exactly the info I was looking for.
