Nintendo Arcade Cabinet Compatibility With Just Switching PCB (Mario Bros. Widebody)

Is there an existing source that lists compatibility of Nintendo PCBs for original Nintendo arcade machines?

How would I go about finding out what other Nintendo games / PCBs would be a direct swap for my machine? I'd obviously be limited to left/right movement of the joystick.

Without getting into JAMMA, could I obtain a secondary Nintendo control panel that offers more buttons and 8-directional joystick movement that would expand compatibility?

With a secondary control panel, I'd opt to make connectors in the wiring to swap these out, if that's possible.

Yeah, with the right harness, monitor orientation and controls you can play all the games of that era. Mario is horizontal so you can play Popeye, Vs System and Playchoice. With vertical orientation you can play, Donkey Kong, DK Jr. and DK3.

Do a search for more info. Also look into a Vector Labs Switcher.

One thing you're going to run into with that Widebody is that your CP is not the same size as the other games. You'd have to customize something to drop in or change out the restrictor plates on your joysticks. Also, vertically orienting that monitor is pretty much not going to work. So, that limits you to Mario Bros, Popeye, Vs. System, Unisystem, and some JAMMA games if you get the adapter. FYI, nothing you do should require any "hacking". You should be able to set up so that you can return everything to normal with no damage.

Modify a vs control panel to bolt on... add the extra up/down wires to the harness for the sticks... Use one of my JAMMA in Nintendo adapters to play just about anything you want :)
