Well I'm back to tinkering around on my Ninja Assault cab but, I'm still having the same problem:

Gun 1 will make the screen flash but no shot appears on the screen.
Gun 2 makes the screen flash AND a shot registers on the screen but only in the upper right hand corner of the screen (in the exact same place every time) no matter where I'm pointing the gun.

I just did a capkit to brighten up the picture because it was horribly dull. I notice some curvature on the sides of the picture. Some of it I can remove using the remote board but, it still looks a little wonky.

I don't know much about this but, hopefully this will make sense to somebody - the naomi transmits the video via a vga plug to what looks like a sync board that then retransmits it to the monitor. There is also a plug that i believe the guns plug into to sync up to the monitor. Could i have an issue with this sync board? I also know there is a set of dipswitches for resolution On the side of the Naomi board. Could I be running the wrong resolution?

I've also been hunting for schematics/wiring diagrams for all of these "remote" interface boards (Sync board, JYU01 board, i think there's some sort of stereo amp/combo board too).
Anyone have any thoughts on this one? Or it's going to end up on craigslist as-is for cheap! LOL!

OK, so I've been searching the internet for information on this game and monitor. I've ran across some information that says the game operates at medium res (31khz) but, according to the Neotec webpage the NT3500 is only a standard res (15khz) monitor. Can anyone confirm this?

If the naomi is capable of 31khz output, is there a way I could check it with a standard computer monitor or LCD screen?

Could this be the source of my gun problems? Right now the Naomi board dipswitches are set for 15khz and I get a picture but, the guns will not work properly. But if the game is designed to work at 31khz and the guns sync to the freq of the monitor I'm thinking this could be an issue? Does that make sense? LOL!

I was thinking if the computer monitor or LCD screen would work I could at least test the guns on a smaller monitor with the correct resolution to prove/disprove my assumption. Anyone have any thoughts?

well i went ahead and hooked up the monitor and changed the naomi board to output 31khz and it booted up just fine. the picture looked great actually! but, the guns still don't work. as a matter of fact they didn't work at all.

anyone near St. Joseph, MO. want to buy a ninja assault cabinet? lol i'll be selling it cheap!

It is my understanding that the gun and monitor is synced and while the monitor is drawing/painting the regular stuff it will also paint the shot at the location where the the gun is pointed when trigger is activated. It will not work with the lcd monitor.

I think the solution to your problem is just simple monitor adjustment so don't throw away the towel.

Ok that makes sense. So if a normal lcd wont work shouldn't a normal pc monito work?
I'll try and take some video and get it posted up later tonight. Thanks for the info

NO....

It probably will not work. I think you need a arcade type monitor. If it is like my Operation Wolf the gun is always on and connected to the cpu board. So the gun and monitor work as a team to record and display the shot/hit pixels.

I don't mean to ask goofy questions but, isn't that what the sync board is for? On the naomi the vga connector is cabled to the sync board with a standard vga style plug to the input side of the sync board and then there is another vga style plug for the output. For the arcade monitor, this vga output from the sync board is used but then converted on the other end of the cable with a plug style that will fit the monitor.

But, shouldn't it still sync if I'm plugging into the output side of the sync board? I would understand if it wouldn't sync if I was running my video directly out of the naomi board but, i'm not. I'm on lunch now but, when i get home tonight I'll take a few photos and post up a video.

I appreciate all the help!
