leave it on for 20 min then turn it off for ten mins then poof the dam thing works.

From what I hear, with the towel method you may have to redo it every so often.

I've heard its a temporary fix. The trick has been out for atleast 6 months. From what I've heard, alot of people who have the RROD on their 360's will do the towel trick, get it to work for a couple days, and list it on craigslist while it's working. Shady.

6 months, try 4 years! LOL If your xbox has any chance of getting fixed via a reflower on craigslist or microsoft, the towel trick definately hurts it's chances. I would stay far away from this method and seek a CL xbox repairman for 30-40 bucks.

The only way to really fix these is to reball the CPU, GPU or whatever the heck it is that uses the sucky lead free solder. Towel trick will fry the other components.

Yep. the towel thing was not really intended as a fix. It was meant to cause the RROD so that you could send it back to MS under the extended warranty. People figured out though that sometimes it temporarily fixed the problem and it kinda grew from there. You can reflow your chips at home with a variable heat source (like a griddle), alcohol suspended flux, and a good heat gun.
