Hi all,

Picked up my first NIB pin, Ironman, in December. I am looking for advice on how to keep it looking like it did when I unboxed it.

The manual doesn't really have any information on preventive maintenance.

My forum search yielded a couple things to do regarding cleaning and waxing of the playfield and to pick up the book, "Pinball Machine Care and Maintenance" by Bernard Kamoroff.

Thanks in advance! :)

Clean, wax, change rubbers and change batteries (with machine ON) once a year. That's all you gotta do.

New Sterns don't have AA batteries anymore, the small cell on it should last for a few years..

Install protectors around the flipper buttons so the cabinet doesn't wear.
Put the game on free play, so you don't get wear on the coindoor from inserting coins (it makes people think the game is not huo).
Keep the invoice to prove it's huo.

Change the rubbers to white. It's a bit of a pain - but your machine will stay cleaner, longer - and, white rubbers make Iron Man play a lot bouncier and crazier!

Also replace the balls at least each year. Besides the abrasive properties old scratched balls have against your playfield, IM has those strong magnets which will eventually magnetize the balls.

I would also install Pinbits plastic protectors and cliffy protectors if they make them for IM.

Clean the playfield regularly with Novus1 and microfiber cloths you get at auto parts stores. Wax with 100% pure Carnauba paste wax, and buff off with microfiber cloths.
