I'm pretty suprised that this game hasn't seen his own thread here.
This game is beyond awesome...

Agree 100%. I was beginning to derail the PS4 thread with Ni No Kuni after NESJess made a comment about it.

It's such an expansive, multi faceted game. It's incredibly deep, a roller coaster story line, stunning music from the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Studio Ghibli + Level 5 = GOLD.

This will end up being one of the big RPG's that enthusiasts/collectors will talk about in the future when they discuss the PS3. I'm sure of it.

If I was Namco I would certainly pickup the rights to global distribution for this game and BLOW IT UP.

They really need another hook to bring it into wide market appeal. Online play, a Mobile app, maybe a physical toy (skylanders) tie in. The content and quality are prime to launch a seriously massive franchise/brand IMHO...

I was going to pick this up at Target the other night but they were sold out.

So let's be honest...for someone who hasn't even had the time to finish Fallout 3, but loves anime, is this game worth it or should I wait until it's like $30?

You might try another store, like Best Buy. Our local Best Buy has 10 copies right now. Gamestop is pretty lame in some ways when it comes to "new" games. If it's the last copy, they give you the grubby DISPLAY case and put a heavily handled, smudgy disc in from behind the counter.

I think the "sold out" part should speak volumes. It's a JRPG and it's selling out in the U.S. everywhere. I like this game more than Fallout 3 so far, for the main reason that it's more accessible and universally appealing.

If you like video games, you should probably own this game. That's not even a subjective statement. I play many different games myself, but Ni No Kuni breaks down the boundaries and niche factor of JRPGs.

Chances are good that I'll just order it from Amazon at some point if I don't see it at Target or anywhere I frequent. I generally won't make special trips to Best Buy or Game Stop, and prefer to not give either of them my money...though I'd give BB my money before GS at this point. But that's another topic all together.

I wasn't really comparing NNK to F3 outside the time to completion variable. I stopped playing F3 once I realized how much time I'd have to dedicate to it and that was time I just didn't have. That's another reason I stopped playing Final Fantasy (aside from me really not caring for anything past VII). I just don't have the time to put into these things like I used to :(

Amazon has it in stock, so definitely order from them! Last time I checked they were backordered I think.

I understand. As an estimate, I would say that Ni No Kuni would take less time to complete the story for sure, but if you add in exploration, skills, familiar training, side quests, etc. it would still be shorter than Fallout!

Give it a try. Take it piece by piece. You'll appreciate the journey you took just that much more after you complete it. :)

Probably not in the works as of now. They'll judge US PS3 sales first. The japanese don't really move many X360 games in Jpn so they didn't care about the US market till they took care of their own first.

There was a DS version but space limitations hurt that version.

Thinking about picking this up today. Who knows when I'll get the chance to actually finish it, but it seems like something I could play in front of the kids, so that should help with being able to put some time into it.

Yeah I think I'm definitely sold on picking this game up, just wondering if I should go the Amazon route, or pick it up today at the store.

Well I went ahead and just ordered it through Amazon. I had the points to use anyway, so I didn't have to spend any money for this one.

The Japanese DS version came out some time ago, and there are no plans to release an English version.

PS3 exclusive makes me sad... :(

However this game seems to be being supplied to stores in numbers too small to meet demand so far. IMHO there's a good chance this game will likely not be available at retail for long, and will never be available for less than full price. Future classic!

unless they decide to print more to meet the demand...

The whole Wizard's Edition controversy doesn't make that idea sound too promising. I hope Namco Bandai figures it out eventually.

I would like a chance at the Wizard's Companion or at least the English version soundtrack. If one would go for the Japanese soundtrack, it would cost you $30-$40 to import it.
