I was watching this documentary of the making of NHL Open Ice on YouTube...

I noticed when they were showing pictures of the unveiling of the game that some cabinets in the background had branded secondary/spectator monitors (or whatever you call them) mounted on top. I'm sure this was probably more common than I realize for events like this, but now I feel like I need one for my cab and I thought I would share.

These were around in the early eighties. Dragon's Lair often had these so people could crowd around and watch the show.
The Open Ice ones look really nicely integrated to the cabinet's side art.

We used to make those for tradeshows, we had them on MK3/UMK3 also when that was the hot new game at the tradeshows. When i got my MK3 machine from work, we got to pick out the machine we wanted from the pool of games that came back from the tradeshows but I was told we had to take off the secondary monitors and they don't come with our games. It didn't matter to me since my basement ceiling isn't tall enough to fit the thing on top of the cabinet anyway.

That's awesome. Do you know why you weren't allowed to take those auxillary monitors? Were they just reused in other cabinets or something?

I had one that the was black with a red midway logo on it. I think it was cut to fit the mk style cab. I stole the k7000 out of it and tried to give the body away, but no one wanted it like 20+ years ago.. it ended up getting water damaged and I crushed it. it was the same shape as the open ice one.
