I have a 2 on 2 open ice machine. Once it's plugged in it does its normal boot up routine. checks the roms and then brings you to the tittle screen. As soon as you enter your initials and start a game the screen goes all scrambled and then reboots. It continues this vicious cycle forever!!! Was thinking a bad rom but they seem to check out just fine on boot up??

Anyone?

Probably the normal midway voltage issue. Check your voltage with the board connected, make sure the 5v line is in fact 5v, also make sure the CMOS battery is good.

Thanks for the responses. If I just leave it on it will play the attract mode for several minutes and then eventually bonk out. If, at any point, I attempt to start a game it resets.

XianXi: you will have to pardon my ignorance. I have mainly fiddled with older Nintendo cabs. I did have a similar issue with a Punch-Out. Once I cranked up the voltage a bit my pain went away. This is my first crack at a Jamma. Where is the CMOS battery located? I assume on the board set??

thanks again

cmos battery is the watch battery near the center of the board.

5.13v is what your looking for (you should test it at a chip to get the best reading).

Check the voltage from a chip that's furthest from the jamma connector. Probably something in the top right region of the board.

A little late posting but BINGO!!

I turned "UP" the dial for more voltage on the power supply and all has been good!!

thanks gents

you don't just turn the dial until it works.

for all you know you could be forcing like 5.4V at the JAMMA edge and your edge connector's covered in shit and lots of the power isn't getting through. just read the PSU guide in my sig and hopefully you'll comprehend its importance.

I did NOT post in detail but YES this is exactly what I did. Upon testing, the 5v line was only getting 4.5 volts. I slowly turned the dial with a digital meter on it until I got the happy 5V required. All has been good after several hours of game playing
