I swapped monitors going from a Medium resolution to Standard....thought it was an easy fix by flipping dipswitches 2 & 3 on U8. Just happens that dip 3 is mangled and pretty much destroyed. The game is stuck on Med Res until I can flip it.

Any idea how I can bypass it?

If it is stuck in "ON" position, you ll need to replace the block of 8 dipsw, if it is "OFF" and you need to switch it to "ON", you could only short circuit the contacts in the solder side with a solder drop or a wire wrap

It's disintegrated. Someone messed with it with the wrong tool and messed it up to the point where there's nothing to move.

This is a surface mount block so I won't be touching it. There has to another way....

As I see in the manual, you only need to set ON switch 2 of U12 (DIP SW 2), this should switch resolution from med to low, so you just need to short circuit the contacts of that sw, if it is smd, it has to be done with a wire wrap or a wire soldering the contacts, I understand its delicate, but in the block, when the lever of a sw is broken, you won´t be able to move it. If you do it with a thin soldering iron and carefully, there should be no problem.

Are you sure? I checked the manual myself and it said that I had to flip switches 2 & 3 on U8 to get standard/low resolution activated. Dipswitch 3 is the only that's mangled.

I would try to find a local that can work on the surface mount and replace that part. The part is not real expensive, the equipment to put it in IS very expensive.

Channelmaniac has the equipment to do this and I would talk to him about it.

I am not who is looking for replace the dip sw block, the OP is who asked a way to solve it, I can do that work, but don´t think that would be advisable to send it to my country! Coincide that would be the best option!

I don't think that I'll be that lucky.....

I have a Manual of the 4 player 25" dedicated cab that can be switched between NBA Showtime and Blitz 200 Gold, I can send the file if you need, let me know what version you have

I edited that post, I was moving from car to library when I posted that. I would like to visit your country some time and I do speak Spanish very well.

Sorry, i have the manual of a different hardware, it is VEGAS hardware and should have SEATTLE, i just saw in system16 that game would come in both hardware, if your manual say that, you can short sw 2 and 3 the same way as I proposed before, or send it to repair, when you shor circuit, is the equivalent to flip the sw to "on", good luck

I found the manual of your version, it is a conversion kit, the position you have now for med resolution is: sw2 off, sw3 on (U8), the bad news is: for change it to low resolution, you need to set sw3 to "off" and sw2 to "on", so instead of short circuit, you should isolate the pins of that position in the sw3 case (not sw2 as you said it works), so you won´t have other option than send to replace the U8 block.

The dipswitch needs to be set to 'off', not 'on'. Will shorting the 2 sides of dipswitch 3 do the trick?

Check the manual, setting 2 and 3 to off is unused, should set 2 to on and 3 to off for low resolution, as shorting will set to "on", if you short circuit the 2 sides of sw3 will no do the trick, you just need the opposite, isolate the contacts and not shorten them up. Sorry for the confusion. Only take account on this last explanation. Isolating the pins is much difficult to do than short circuit... I do not recommend to try if your not secure...

Ok, thanks. Looks like it's an impossible task.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks

Somebody close to you that can do smt work or Chanelmaniac is about your only options here.

Sorry but that is just the way it should be repaired, with the proper equipment, know how, and experience. If you try to fix it yourself, you will probably cause more problems, tear up a trace or several, and possibly make that board unrepairable.

I used another board that I had and swapped the chips. I should have done that from the beginning. Thanks
