I have the complete wiring harness from a dedicated 4 player NFL Blitz available. Will also work on other 4 player Midway games - plug and play.

$40 plus shipping

blitz can work with 8 ways. If you cab did not have i-40 board it was wired for 8 way.

49 way joysticks harness goes from pcb to i-40. then i40 to joysticks. The main harness carries the wires for the buttons.

here is a pic of complete blitz 49 wiring(for refrence.. not the one for sale here):

So if I had a 49 position joystick game, like Pigskin 621 AD and wanted it to function in an 8 way joystick cabinet like NBA Jam alls I would need is this I-40 board and it will allow me to do this?

blitz joysticks and sinistar joysticks are not compatible.

I don't think the i-40 is not converting 49 way signals into 8 way to send to the board. The blitz harness according to the manual is not using player 1 & player 2 up, down, left and right in the harness.

Maybe there is some solution you can work out for your plan, but I can't be of any help with that..

The i40 board is what translates the optical 49-ways so (in this situation) the Blitz board can understand them. You can eliminate that entire setup with a dipswitch and run 8-ways from your standard JAMMA harness for Player 1 and 2.

What I believe you lose out on then is the ability to have a 4 player setup without the i40 board and 49-ways.

Anyone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I am guessing the i40 board only came on dedicated 4-player cabs and on the 2-player versions they omitted the i40 board and just used 8-ways.

I actually have a 2 player setup on my showcase with 49 way joysticks. Joysticks plug straight into the board, and the jamma harness takes care of the buttons.

I have used the same jamma harness also since it wasn't hacked up to run 8 way joysticks. Makes it a lot easier to swap out the 2 control panels I have for Tekken 4 and Blitz.

Interesting, perhaps the i-40 board is just a multiplexer to allow players 3 and 4 then.

Also, good luck on your sale, didn't mean to derail your FS thread.
