I have a NFL BLITZ 2K board that is giving me trouble. First Is a regular Jamma Harness ok?

The game makes a hell of alot of noise upon start up. i can hear the hard drive thru the speakers and also? nothing on screen. The board seems to be working...all lights are going.
can anybody help? Its in a mortal kombat 2 cabinet

From looking at this manual it appears that Bllitz 2K is wired slightly differently from standard Jamma. Normal Jamma only has one speaker output on pins 'L' and '10' while this board has putputs on 'M' and '11' also. I don't knkow if this is the source of your problem, though.

This manual is for the dedicated cabinet; a conversion kit, if offered, may be slightly different.

shouldn't NFL blitz work just by swapping boards. Ive had teken 3 working no prob.

Well, swapping boards is a good start but not necessarily all that is required in order to make a Jamma board work in a Jamma cab. Sometimes you have to adjust the sync or volume. Other times you need additional wiring in order to make it work. It sounds like you are having problems with signals crossing (HDD sounds through speakers) and boot-up. The boot problem could be due to the crossed signals, or it could be something else like a missing power source.

You need to make sure dip switch bank 2 switch #2 is on and switch #1 is off. Also, I would disconnect pins '11' and 'M' from the Jamma harness in order to see if the problem clears up.

I can tell you from experience that if your power supply outputs are low you will have bad feedbnack from the speakers. Mine did the same thing after a year of non-use. Had to adjust the voltages up a bit.

both my KIs have crazy feedback, you hear so many weird signal sounds from them lol

I can't really contribute much here, because the only non-dedicated cab I ever installed a Blitz boardset in was a War Gods cab, which is additionally pre-wired at the JAMMA edge for stereo (like Blitz).

first I'm hearing about voltages. I was going to suggest checking your -5 line, but then your MK2 wouldn't work right in that cab.

could be your power supply is taking a shit however. something. I'm going to assume that you're using the hard drive power header that's on the Blitz board and not any kind of adapters coming direct off the power supply?

another oddity to note, in no configuration did I run Blitz off a screw terminal power supply, always the larger box units (from the newer non-iso power bricks Midway's cabs shipped with later on). do you have the original grey Peter Chou power supply in your cab?

i tried it on both of my cabinets the other one is wrestlefest and it does the same thing. black screen and im hearing everything the board is doing thru speakers.VEry loud and annoying. Thanks for your help. i will try again tomorow. Also tried adjusting my brand new power supply. i have it all the way to the left. if i turn it up a lil the board turns off.

ok...the test screen comes up now but after it passes all its tests and goes garbled but you can see the game working

I have the orginal tranformer and i have a new power supply i just bought that ran my other boards. i got the test screen up and it passes all of them but then goes garbled stringy but you can see it working.
