I picked up a really nice NFL Blitz 2000 Gold/NBA Showtime cabinet that was on Craigslist today for $300. The seller said the only problem with it was that the hard drive was bad. He said he had someone come out and look at it that does restorations, etc. and that was all he found. I've seen on the forum many times that this is common and I have seen that I can pick up a new one fairly cheap so I went ahead and purchased the cabinet. I brought it home and sure enough, it doesn't boot. The drive just cycles. Is it normal to get nothing out of it even with a bad drive? When I power on the fans kick up the monitor comes on, but nothing happens, black screen no sound, nothing. I've read on here that the +5V should be set to +5.1V, and I will check that. Is there anything else I need to do other than ordering a new drive? Thanks for any help.

Usually you will see SOMETHING on the screen. There is usually a loading screen that pops up (kind of like a computer does before it loads windows or whatever). Then when it goes to access the hard drive, it ends up rebooting and starting over.

Hard drives aren't expensive, so I'd get a good one and see if that fixes it. or go with compact flash and an IDE adapter...

Same here, same dual game, no video output, no sound. Voltage was checked, drive spins up, LED's are flashing like it is going to start then... nothing... Watching the LED's it did look like it was going through some kind of cycle. Boy would l like to get this one fixed.
I would hate to piggy back on this post but it is the same thing...

Well I will keep you posted after I get my drive and maybe we can get both of ours working. I thought it was off putting to not see any output, but we shall see.

I don't know if this helps. I was testing out trying to use a Compact Flash card and IDE adapater on my Sportstation cabinet. When the hard drive is in, it boots up just fine. When I plugged in the CF adapter, black screen, no sound, board LEDs were spinning.

So, perhaps this is the symptom when a "bad" drive is plugged in?

Let's hope so... That would be awesome if all I have to do I get a hard drive. But that means I don't know how to properly image a drive for this game. Hey won't be the last time I'll be wrong. As Marvin would say, back to the ol' drawing board...
