NFL Blitz 2000 Gold Edition/ NBA Show Time NBA on NBC rebooting problem

My NFL Blitz 2000 Gold Edition/ NBA Show Time NBA on NBC not a dedicated cabinet machine sat for about 6 months and when I pulled it out and pluged it in the monitor said

Midway Video Boot Loader
Copyright (c) 1999 by Midway Games Inc.
Booting :game.exe......

and then the screen goes blank for a minute and does it again. I checked the voltage at the JAMMA edge and OK 5.1 and 12.1 except the -5 was reading -4.1, also reading the same on the converter +5.1 amd +12.1 except the -5 was -4.1. I assume I need a new converter? Not sure what the - volts are for? Would this cause my problem.

Thanks

I doubt your hard drive suddenly went bad from disuse. I'm leaning towards voltages as well. the Midway Vegas boardset's optimal +5 voltage (at the JAMMA edge) is about 5.10V.

alternatively, check your +12V as well. I've never tried booting mine with the hard drive unplugged, so I don't know its behavior, but it looks like your hard drive is either not getting +12V (that's at the yellow (+12) and black (GND) wires on the molex plug) due to the power supply failing (which I think CAN happen if you leave electronics off for awhile and then try powering them back on if they're in a fragile state) or you just have a poor connection to the hard drive plug.

if you have a power cable running from the Vegas board itself to the hard drive (I can't tell by the picture), try running a power supply with a hard drive power plug built in and see if the problem persists.

otherwise, the obvious alternative, is that your hard drive is bad.

which game revisions are you running? try checking your boot rom labels.... permitting they haven't fallen off.
