My blitz 2000 controls are going wacky. In test mode the selector just scrolls constantly. In game all buttons work but joys dont respond. I bought an I40 board and plugged it up to get the same result. Please please help!

I would bet there is a ground missing on the Joy stick and that is what I would look at first. Try to see if there is a wire connecting to each of the switches of the joy stick, that should be ground (in most cases but check schematics to be certain). I would bet the ground is missing or broken.

Will do that tomorrow

Those Williams games were well known for having under grounded (as in not good enough) control panels. The fix was to run a few new ground wires from the power supply and tie them to grounds at each end of the panel.

Easy way to fond out is to put the game into switch test mode then push a bunch of buttons. They should all indicate they they are being pressed. If they dont, bad ground...

I have never witnessed this. I will say however both my KI and KI2 cabs had broken ground wires and I had to re-crimp a lot of quick disconnects on my KI and I wound up just replacing the wiring from another CP I had on the KI2.

I have another Blitz cab where the joysticks took a shit entirely, with the game never getting played, so I have to comb through all the wiring on it when I get a chance.. possibly a fuse issue. or an unplugged header somewhere, maybe. not sure.

bad i-40

the i-40 i bought does nto seem to be working properly. i have a bad i-40 board. a new i-40 will fix it. im just going to sell the arcade anyway for $300 everything else is fine on it. im tired of messing with something i dont play anyway

I assure you the I-40 board I sold you was working 100% before packaging and shipping it out. I tested it the day prior with all 4 49-ways hooked to it and tested all directions in the service menu. I would double check your wiring and how everything is connected up. It's possible you might have an issue with your mainboard.

i-40

jigz: no big deal either way. may have been the main board. i dont know. i sold the whole thing for what i originally paid for it at $300. I am sure your I-40 was perfect. you were great to deal with and super quick on the shipping. thanks for your help!
