I listened to a George Gomez mp3 of a talk he gave about Transformers. He said "say goodbye to our little orange friend". I assumed he meant that Stern would be loosing the orange DMD. I must have been mistaken.

Anyone else know what I'm referring to that can elaborate?

Yeah, Stern's going Color LCD ...probably the game after the game after AC/DC. Stern's going to a new boardset which will have all sorts of new features including the color LCD which will replace the DMD.

I think if you have a high resolution LCD display, use it... a-la WOZ (in theory I guess since nobody has seen it... having it be a giant backglass sized display could be annoying, but if its small (like DMD sized or maybe a bit bigger like some of the jumbo DMD's) I think it would be great... I have seen ColorDMD and its pretty cool, they could probably sell a ton of them if they made some sort of API to let people make their own frames

personally I will *NOT* miss DMD's... they are expensive, get burn in, are very fragile, etc

Effective January 1, 2010, the California Lighting Efficiency and Toxics Reduction Act applies RoHS to general purpose lights, i.e. "lamps, bulbs, tubes, or other electric devices that provide functional illumination for indoor residential, indoor commercial, and outdoor use.

The color DMD guys were using the laptop LCD's becuse no one made the displays the size of the DMD... if it's true that Stern is actually using LCD's this is not true. I wonder why they do not offer them as an add-on to us customers... I would love a color LCD in Tron and Transformers...
