Picked up a great game this weekend, nice Gauntlet Legends.

I thought this was a converted MK cabinet but nooooo sir/maam. It is almost 7 inches wider than my MK1. Upon further inspection, it started out as a NBA Championship cab. Really nice cabinet, I like it a lot. It clearly came off a location and works perfectly. Sides have been painted black. I'm thinking about getting some custom side art maybe.. not sure yet. The sound is incredible on this thing too.

Couple questions as this is my first game with a harddrive... how hard is it to upgrade to dark legacy? And if you do so, can you play both versions on the same machine or does it convert to Dark Legacy?

Also, the 4 switches are in the front behind the coin door as they appear in the manual, but the test switch doesn't seem to work. I've pushed it, held it, held it during boot up, etc. Can not get the test menu to come up. I am looking to put it on freeplay and most importantly, clear out the high scores so we can enter our own initials and codes with fresh characters. Tonight I'm going to take off those damn lock bars and peel off that sticker. She's a free game now.

I'm very happy to have this game in my place. Been wanting a nice 4 player game and the replay value on this is really high with all the secrets and the fact you can load characters. I'm thrilled. Big thanks to Jason (jumpman666) for the killer trade. Buy/trade with him with confidence!

To go to Dark Legacy you change 1 chip on the board and the hard drive. Keep the old bits so you can change back.

Upgrade kit is pretty cheap on Ebay (I bought one at Christmas - with the flash card instead of HDD, but not got round to trying it yet..)

Awesome, thanks! Yes I'm looking to upgrade to the flash as well.

So which NBA game was it originally? Jam, TE, Hangtime, Showtime? Just got me curious.

That's original NBA Jam. Now, everyone is gonna pressure you to citristrip it :D

Yeah you can see some NBA art on the sides of the control panel. Whoever did this conversion did a really good job though, IMO. Insides are really clean. I'm very happy with it.

Although, NBA Jam is fun as hell, too.

Assuming they kept the original 8 way joys, you can swap in a Jam or use a switcher and have a multi 4 player cab in the future.

defin not a dedicated gauntlet but still nice score... I would suggest a new marquee cause its too stretched and maybe new cpo since it doesn't look right, if some1 has a psd file for it you can adapt it perfectly for that size control panel

No one ever said it was a dedicated gauntlet.. I mentioned I thought it was converted from a MK but it was actually converted from a NBA Jam is all. But yeah it was a good score, the seller gave me a really really good deal. I'm very happy.

And yes I would like to at least redo the CPO. Not a fan of it. The monitor needs a slight adjustment also as the right side when you are in between levels gets a little bit cut off. You can't tell during gameplay though. I assume this is from the conversion or the monitor just needs to be adjusted period.

have you checked the joysticks to see if they are 8 way or are they 49 opticals installed? if they are the 8 way makes it much easier to convert to a multi. also not sure if the ebay listing above is arcade-service but they have really nice stuff. bought some rush 2049 SE flash kits off of them and they were really nice. looking to upgrade my gauntlet to legacy as well.
