Do you like seeing newer games in your local barcades? Specifically vids, not pinball.

What are the newest (non-pinball) games in the barcades near you? Not talking Dave & Busters or Round1 type places.

I always thought it was weird/lame to have a room full of classics and then some random big buck hunter or Fast & Furious bikes. But there are some genres of games (like handheld gun and dual racing) where there aren't many great classic options.

Barcade in Brooklyn has a dual Mario cart. It just didn't fit in. I see alot of 90s games which is what I have, like MK, Smash TV and Daytona twin. I think it also has to do with how they arrange them. Maybe it's just me because when Barcade first opened in Brooklyn, all they had were classics and now they add 90s games which to me changed the vibe of the place.

Barcade in Philly has alot of 90s games and it's all placed well. They have a 6 player X-men and a 4 player NBA jam. I forget if they have TMNT or simpson.

Both have the VS pacman which I dig.

Golden Tee seems to be a popular one that I have seen in a few places... a restaurant down the road from me has a Golden Tee 2014 Live and Big Buck Hunter HD.

90s games like Jam, TMNT, X-Men are barcade staples. I'm talking games from the polygon era, like 1999 and up.

Are you asking about Barcade specificity or any arcade type bar? I just went from Jacksonville FL to Salt Lake City and hit over 15 locations I have an opinion on this topic only if it's any arcade type bar but I haven't actually visited an actual Barcade and you know how they flip out with anyone using there name 😠. Just got got back this Monday 12 days on the road it was fun and exhausting.

I think its fine if the balance is good.
I was in Denver last week and went to 1UP (awesome place by the way).
They have an interesting mix of really solid 80s classics, tons of high end pins, 90s stuff and some modern stuff as well (mainly big show pieces). From what I saw, the modern stuff was getting played just as much as the classic stuff (maybe more in the case of the giant Ms. Pac-Man.
From an outside observation it seemed like groups of girls and couples were main group of people playing stuff like that.
Personally I think its fine if you have a good balance of classics with modern stuff. Its the redemption stuff (with the exception of skeeball) that I don't understand or care for.

Our local arcade bar "Cobra Arcade" recently put in a Dance Dance Revolution.
I'm not going to lie, a few of the local collectors joked about it at first. I have to admit people are constantly on that thing, not to mention its pretty fun to watch drunk chicks having a dance off. Highly amusing to say the least.

From a collectors prospective, not at all the type of stuff I would bring home. That being said I think its perfectly fine in a well balanced arcade or bar.

As long as people are having fun i don't really care how many new games are in the line up. Although i would rather be pounding away on a defender or getting my ass kicked playing Punchout!
