Newer flyback exploded. How long is a replacment flyback suppose to last?

@tomservo and @VectorCollector weren't wrong either. lol

the timeline of the defective flybacks tracks, cause about 2 years ago was when we started getting chassis in from the field with blown flybacks. I've never seen any with the white confetti like yours though.
Don't agree with the first one. Water heater, garden hose ???
@VectorCollector is cool.

I probably got a bad flyback from that batch. It was installed in 2023. I just found the box with the chassis yesterday and haven't looked at it since I packed it away when it blew up.

Doesn't help when I was just asking a question and then you get the usual's who chime in with no help and trying to start something.

I didn't know if the replacement flybacks were ok to run so many hours like the original ones.

Chassis is a Wells Gardner 25K7000.

I researched this when I was trying to figure out how long my warranty should be.

In Atari's game manuals (at least) they warrantee'd the entire game MINUS THE MONITOR for 90 days, and the monitor for 30 days. All of the monitor manufacturer's info I could find had nothing about a warranty or guarantee way back when. Wells Gardner didn't show anything for the K7000 and I couldn't find anything for Dynamo Cabinets, Mortal Kombats, etc.

So if you really want to know, call the manufacturer of the flyback, or your reseller who sold it to you. But my best guess, would be 30 days.

The transformer is generating ~25,000 volts, it's an extremely volatile piece of equipment. The one in my Night Driver, I just found out is probably 49 years old and works reasonably ok. Good enough to not burn anything I guess.

I was also disappointed with the first idiotic/asinine response.

Trolls gonna troll.

Just ignore them like everyone else. Feeding them just tends to make them multiply like tribbles.

For me, my strategy has always been to stick with the originals whenever possible. Most of my machines have their original flybacks. Most likely this is of no help to you though.

I agree. About the only parts I replace are:
1. Broken
2. Failed
3. The 2N3055s on the AR board for Atari games
4. OLD capacitors that aren't a good brand
