Newbie with a tube and a diagram - need expert help...

I picked up a shell cabinet with a monitor and I thought I was ready to go... And then I realized it was just a tube with no chassis. :(

From the diagram and model number stickers it looks like it used to have a WG chassis attached to it. I originally thought I should just try to find a replacement, but then those seemed hard to come by. After even more digging, it seems like the WG chassis boards are a bit tempermental.

So, the questions are:

1. Are there "new" chassis boards that can be attached to existing tubes that are more reliable?
2. What model WG would work best with this tube?

Hopefully the attached images help ID my problem and associated solution. If not, let me know what you need. The third images wouldn't upload, but all it showed was the model number of the tube: RCA A63ADT10X05-3

Thanks in advance!
Josh Anderson

That is a K7000 chassis you're missing. Seeing as how the neck has 10-pins, it's most likely a 25" P538 chassis you'll need - although they did make some 19" versions of the 10-pin, as well as a couple 27" versions. You could probably ask in the WTB section for a working rebuilt one.

And you COULD buy a universal chassis from Alva Amusement or 8liners. You'd need to tell them you have a large neck low-impedance yoke, and tell them the size of the tube...

Thanks for the quick help. Naturally it is the one with so many problems it already has a sticky thread!!! :)

Again, thanks for the help. I'll dig around and see what's out there.

Also, I have to ask about the all caps "COULD" in regards to the universal chassis. Is that a bad idea or are they sketchy sellers? Just trying to read between the lines, with very little success...

Thanks.

A well-rebuilt K7000 will match up perfectly, look great, and run very reliably (10+ years). The universals aren't known for long-term reliability (maybe 3-4 years) and will require you to modify a couple of connectors to use it with your tube. You might get the universal for $25 cheaper than a nicely rebuilt original, though...

Gotcha. I'm in this for the long haul, so I'll try to do it right the first time. I'm a software guy, so the less I have to modify, the more likely I am to succeed!!!

k7000

Could not see in cabinet but make sure there is a isolation transformer for the monitor for that monitor. I have seen people take out isolation transformers out of cabinets when they put in a monitor that did not need one, then take out the newer monitor to sell and put in a older one that still needs a isolation transformer.
Just a heads up so you dont blow your monitor once you put it back together.

OK. Well I know I need the chassis for sure. If I need to find the transformer, once I figure out what in the world that is :), I'll have to pick one of those up. If you still have it, I'd love to pick up the chassis from you.

Thanks!
