good afternoon,
so I have a 4 player nba jam cabinet and I believe it's a jamma board inside of it? if so how hard would it be to mount another jamma board game inside of it and just change the connection everytime I wanted to play a different game. Is that possible? easy? do I need a certain game? is it as easy as connecting the connection to another board?

thanks,
slim

In theory it's that simple, but depending on the game you might need special controls or buttons not currently installed on your cabinet. Street Fighter II for example would need a kick harness and at least 3 more buttons drilled into the control panel. Other games might require a -5v line which your power supply might not have.

talk to jedidentist...he has an nba jam rigged to play a bunch of other 4-player beat-em ups.

If you click on the link in my sig, you'll see my restoration thread that talks about what I did. I have a 6:1 JAMMA switcher to rotate through several games. If you simply want to pull out your nba jam board and play another, I guess any 4 player game that only requires 3 buttons should work for what you want to do. You'd just have to remove the back door, pull the game from the harness, and plug in your other.

Just think of games you want and look them up...anything with 2 or 3 buttons should work Off the top of my head:
TMNT
TMNT 2
All of the NBA Jam games
Simpsons
X-Men
Sunset Riders
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (3player)
GI Joe
Superman (2 player)
WWF Wrestlefest or Superstars

There are several others, but these are the ones I have/have looked into getting

Battletoads is another... although it only uses 2 buttons and is 3 player...

NFL Blitz i think is another 4 player one that works.

Really as long as it is JAMMA, you should be able to plug it in and play it (I think NBA Jam requires the -5 V so you should have that)... The only thing that would make it more difficult would be if it requires more than 3 buttons.. Some 4 button games wouldnt require any work, but anything with 5 or 6 buttons you are going to need another cable from the board to your buttons...

You could still plug it in and bring it up, but the buttons that are above 3 (or sometimes 4) wont function without the extra cabling.
