Good day all. I have "come into" a cabinet containing the greatest racing game ever, "Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat" from 1990. Everything seems to work fine- except I cannot get the coin mechanism to work. One time my brother in law hit the little wire at the bottom of the coin shoot and it gave us a few credits. SO I know it works. I just think that those mechanisms with the little hair wire that the quarter hits are wore out and need to be replaced. When I hit that wire, the lights that are on the coin slots dim a little.
Sorry for calling parts the wrong thing- I am very ignorant on the technical jargon, but I am quasi mechanical. I think I can get this fixed. I just need some help!
Any tips on how to bypass the coin-op credit system? Maybe bypass it all together and turn it into a button? I do not need the coin op to work.
I got the game for free so I don't want to go crazy with a full restoration. In fact, looking at the cabinet- I think that this thing was cobbled together, because it only has 2 wheels and gas pedals, yet it should be a 3-player game! My plan is to get it working, grab a few beers and go play the thing. And maybe someday show my 2-year-old son that simplicity is some times better than the latest and greatest.
Thank you for any help,
Ryan
