hello gamers,
I am kindof new but thats ok!!! I would just like to say I am one of the few girls on klov but that doesnt mean I dont things about arcades!!!!!
Ps any fellow klov girls please add me i would love to chat!!!!

What do you like? I would get a jamma cab so you can swap boards. Something that does not require a ton of work unless you are looking for a project.

Where are you located in Il? Might be members near by who have stuff for sale.

Thanks really helps Im probaly looking for a JAMA or a MAME and I know many people dont like MAME but o well!!!

Just make sure the cabinet you choose you like and its not something rare that will be converted to a MAME. With a MAME just make sure you have enough controls that will satisfy your gaming needs. I built a totally custom MAME cocktail. Worked perfect for my needs and now all I get are dedicated games. Welcome to the addiction.

Build a 60 in 1. They are simple and cheap and will give you a good insight on real arcade cabs (plus can use VGA monitors, which is one of the harder things to find compared to the tons of CRT computer monitors out there)

If that works well for you, build a MAME, or be eaten alive by the dedicated only bug.

Personally, I like a mix of dedicated or unique and MAME.

My goal is to have multiple mame machines since a full MAME list is really overwhelming and can produce franken panels (which no one likes)

BTW I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago, its a great place to be arcade wise. (Although Cali would be better it seems)

Anything Jamma for a first cab would be great. Mame, is out rated.. There are those of us who do have a Mame cab, but it's the actual dedicated cabinets that most of us cherish and choose to play over Mame.

Depending on location, amount your willing to spend and preferably a list of "wanted" games, most of us will be willing to help track down something in those preferences.

Anyways, Welcome to KLOV. If you need anything feel free to give me a shout.

MAME has the same issue as ipods... you load 12 million songs on it and barely feel like you find anything good.
Give someone a Jukebox with 100 good songs as choices and you will hear them go on and on about songs they forgot about.. they will probably "love" 20 songs out of the 100... where as on an ipod they will only think of songs currently on their mind...

Welcome aboard from the far north suburbs!

Watch out for the bug...after 16 years of bugging the wife, I finally convinced her to let me get a Space Invaders cab. Six months later I'm on the prowl for machine number 5.
