New YouTube channel: Overtime Arcade

What do you use for Editing Video? I'm using AVS Video Editor and it works pretty well for what I need.

Just iMovie — it's what I used years ago and does most of what I need for now. I do wish is supported HDR export on the Mac though…

That's a good idea -- I might have to try that.
Just add chapter points. Easy to navigate.

As for longer videos, I've been leaning more towards Live streams nowadays.

1) Longer is accepted more for streams
2) Interaction in Live chat can help you fix stuff
3) No editing needed. It saves the stream as a permanent video. You can add thumbnail and trim it down if you wish later.

My time has been extremely limited this past year. So Live streams are the answer. I'm currently refining my Live setup so I can easily stream more often. I'm ALMOST there with a completely 4K setup for extra clarity for bench repairs.

All caught up on your videos thus far! Enjoyed all of them and looking forward to all your future episodes.

IMO, the channels that become the most successful follow 3 rules:

#1 (and probably the most important) Keep your videos FUN. - There are a lot of really great Arcade related channels out there but not all of them are fun to watch. Like his channel or not, one of the reasons John's Arcade became so popular is because he made it fun. It was entertaining to watch John each week because he made you feel like the process was fun to be a part of. Again, there are a lot of great and informative channels out there and those clearly have their place...but they can be very dry to watch. I still go back an watch many of John's videos because they are just fun to watch. Dry channels don't really keep me coming back.

#2 Keep them informative - Always make sure your videos are entertaining but don't loose sight of keeping them informative. As a viewer, I want to make sure I learn at least one new tidbit from each episode. Just make sure you keep a healthy balance of both #1 and #2.

#3 Post videos on a (somewhat) regular basis - This is a tough one. It could be hard to pull off and nobody likes seeing people get burned out. However, a successful channel will probably post new content at least every 2 weeks. Keeping your channel updated with fresh content keeps people coming back. We have seen a lot of arcade related channels get stale without posting for months. Or even going outright dark. You don't owe anyone anything, of course. But if you want to have a successful channel, you need to post fresh content on a regular basis.

Again, just my opinion of what makes a successful channel. I couldn't care less about flashy "production value" as long as I can hear your voice and the camera isn't shaking wildly for an hour straight. LOL

Keep up the good work. :)

Thanks — and I strongly agree with all 3 points!

Any loss of art when you take them down?

Good question. I haven't had a reason to take any of them down yet, so I couldn't say. However, all the marquees hanging up are damaged to the point most people wouldn't want to use them in a cabinet (e.g., major scratches, cracks, missing corners, etc.), so I'm not particularly worried in my situation.

I subbed as well, can I ask the background 80s vapor wave track you use, did you make it or is it somewhere in long version format? My daughter keeps dancing to it when it comes on lol

Thanks so much! I've got links to all the music I use in the description for each episode. Here's the info for the main theme song:

Episode #8 is now live on YouTube (4K version has been processing for 12+ hours now) -- a Halloween Special featuring The Munsters pinball! I know the game isn't necessarily well-regarded by hardcore pinball players, but I personally think it's a lot of fun. And don't worry, the next part of my Ms Pac-Man restoration series is coming soon too.

Any Ms. Pac news? ;)

Yes! I'm nearly finished editing the next video (part 3 in the Ms. Pac-Man restoration series), and it should be released tomorrow.

Because you asked, here's an exclusive behind-the-scenes sneak peek... 😅
