NEW New York Arcade Tour Videos

Very cool. I visited NYC with my girlfriend via driving in (she was visiting from Texas, I'm local as Union is only 15-30 minutes from the Holland Tunnel depending on traffic; once we parked we used the subway to get around) for the first time in probably 6 or 7 years in December of 2016 and I think this time I'm going to need a 7 year period recovery time until I ever set foot in NYC again... Can't begin to imagine how people live there on a daily basis, must be a large mental adjustment, especially since there's really no "escaping" on the daily because everything you need is inside the city. Cool place, just not for me - I am the last person you will see wearing a "I LOVE NY" T-shirt but I hope it lived up to the hype for you! Pretty weird that it's only like 15 or 30 minutes from my normal "town" (suburbs but not really) house though, and the entrance and exit of that tunnel are like two different worlds after a few minutes on each side.

It was DEFINITELY a fun time but one long day/night is definitely enough to last for a long time!

Glad to see the arcades there are doing well though.

What local Arcades do you visit where you live? Anything good?

Wow that is crazy. Live so close but don't go there often ha.

See, that doesn't seem weird whatsoever to me, that is pretty much normal life around here unless you commute to work there. You go there every few years maybe or less.

It's probably because it's so crazy and just generally annoying to go in, it's not like you just waltz right in or stop there on your way to somewhere else, you have to make a very dedicated effort to get into the city (and it definitely doesn't stop there - driving anywhere inside is hell) and while it's close, it's far enough that nobody really has any reason to make frequent trips there. It is truly two different worlds almost.

Like, if you lived next to/in Aruba or the Bahamas as a U.S. native you'd probably go to the beach every day or at least once a week forever. But I guess this is different because it's not only a tourist destination but also filled with people who are just there to work and live, filled with real businesses, and filled with a TON of people (and a lot of crazy/homeless) and in the end it's just a smelly overpopulated city that is hard to get around in once the cool factor wears off, whereas the Bahamas, in the end, generally has a perk or more to being there aside from just being fun and beautiful, it's relaxing, etc.. I guess that's the explanation in a nutshell. :p Nobody here really cares that they live so close to NYC. Any that do are mostly just commuters for working there.

Like anything else you'd probably want to be there for a few hours but not want to be there for days on end or forever, like a Chuck E. Cheese or a rundown busy arcade, a few hours is fine but after that it starts to become a negative - whereas the Bahamas would definitely have the amenities going on.

(I've never been to the Bahamas I'm just using it as a comparison :p )

My friend David (Mr. Do here on KLOV) runs the Morristown Game Vault. It is FANTASTIC, and a great price. It's in a wonderful town and in an old bank, high ceilings and all. One of those things you have to see to really enjoy - hasn't sunk into the collector community very much yet unfortunately!

I also like the Silverball Museum, THAT is something I am happy to be fairly local to. I love it. Far enough away that it feels like a mini-vacation every time and it's also on the beachfront.

Ha well sounds like you do need to go to the Bahamas!

Yeah that all makes sense, It's just crazy how different your view is ( Being local and all ). Because, as a tourist you really don't know how it "Really" is, or how the locals view everything. So it is very interesting. Here in Dallas we have some terrible traffic and I still complain but when I went to New York.... it was a shock.

I was terrified most the time when our Uber drivers would take my Wife and I places that were just too far to walk. They drive ( To me ) CRAZY! I thought we were going to wreck or hit a pedestrian at any moment. Lets just say, I was clinch butt the entire time we would ride in a vehicle.
