Cheers. Got my first project EM pin. Its a Gottlieb "Out of Sight" I have been to Marvin3m and made my first order from pinball resource. It doesn't work yet and the start motor just keeps turning. I'm just doing a lot of cleaning right now and tried to save the back glass paint with triple thick. It worked fairly well. I purchased the manual and schematic. I know I'm having problems with one of the stepper units under the playfield in the upper right corner near the prop stick. I'm still trying to learn to read a schematic and its one of the big units in the game. I think its the step up coil. It has no plunger stop and no number on the coil. Its just wrapped with yellow electrical tape. Its all new and a great learning experience for me and my 2 sons. I'm hoping for any advice or help now and in the future. I know I've got the basic skills to get this game back to life.

The pinrepair site has a list of things to look for when that happens. In my EM pin it turned out that a coin switch was stuck in the "on" position, and so the game kept thinking it was constantly getting credits, and kept spining the start motor.

Thanks. I might have that as an issue also, but I know this stepper unit isn't working and figure I would fix it first. I also have a broken pop bumper switch. Had to order some super lube since there was none to be found local.

Thanks for the responses. Made another order today for parts and supplies. Looks like I've got to rebuild a stepper unit or 2 and devise a stop rubber for one of the drop targets since they no longer make that part. I usually work on old British motorcycles and have to refine my touch. So far I've broken a ring and rod on a pop bumper and the plastic keeper on a score reel. When I get the fuses in and can get it to light up I'll try and post a link to a pic.

Just an up date. Cleaned every switch, score reel, stepper unit, etc. Replaced some drop targets and play field rubbers. The list is too long. Got it sort of running. The bonus stepper, and player unit stepper are not working and neither is the ball kicker or the ball return. To start the game I have to manually push the reset bank. The score motor turns and the start relay works fine. Going to start checking switch adjustments. I keep breaking the old drop targets. Machine is set at 3 degrees angle. Any suggestions?

Thanks. This is my first and only pin I got to work on so far. Its providing me hours of entertainment both on and under the playfield.

The transformer will have 2 taps for the solenoid voltage. If your machine is on the "high tap" you could try setting it to the lower voltage and see if that helps. Typically targets break because the flippers are too strong.
