Ok don't shoot me because it is for pins only at the moment. I did talk with the creator at Pinball Expo and told him about KLOV. His site is still in Beta but working. It's a nice set-up for listing and searching what you want or need. So please register and try it out. Maybe if we get enough arcade guys joining he will add a section for us to use as well as pin guys.

Not a bad site, but just wondering (and not flaming here at all), why does everyone try to reinvent the wheel?

The Mr. Pinball Classifieds are already up and going for years now.

I hope he does well, but I tend to go to Mr Pinball first. Just saying.

Just signed up. Hey... you looking for a Pinbot? Not that I want to sell mine but I would in a heartbeat if there was $2500 on the table. :)

I happened to be googling and saw this post. (sorry if this gets a little long)

Hi, Chris:

I definitely wouldn't have bothered with another "me too" pinball classifieds web site. Let me illustrate:

Say I love modern Stern games, and want to buy one within 200 miles of me for under $3000 (I'm located at postal code 49426). I don't know how long it would take you to get the answer on Mr. Pinball, but here's the answer on pynball.com:

http://www.pynball.com/app/guest/se...Range_BeginYear=2000&soYearRange_EndYear=2010

Here are some features that make it different:

* give the site your "want list" of machines, specifying your max price, furthest distance, minimum condition, etc. and the website will relentlessly hunt for you. No need for you to babysit the site, as once a game you want is posted "for sale", you get an e-mail within the hour.
* new listings are posted immediately, not 72 hours later.
* high res photos (unlimited number) can accompany the listing
* put a web address in the description if you want--I don't care!
* Your e-mail address is protected, just like craigslist. (On Mr. Pin, your e-mail address is exposed to the web--spambots may find you and you may get viagra e-mails)
* add someone to your "block list" and their current and future listings are hidden from you.
* you get *your own* copy of everyone's listings, meaning you can delete people's listings from your copy that you're not interested in (behaves like e-mail).

I designed the site so that it would go to work for the game collector, not have the game collector work to get the information out of the site (at least that's the intent.)

Fair enough! I will re-visit the site with all this in mind :)

Those are indeed new features that Mr. Pinball classified does not have.

Thanks for the reply!

That would be great. The site is young and I'm working out a few bugs, so please be forgiving. :)

Are people interested in vids and other coin-ops added to the site? If you are:

1) let me know: jurassicpinbot <at> gmail <dot> com
2) mention it to the KLOV folks, as I need their blessing and cooperation to use the game/manufacturer data.

If I could make a few quick suggestions to the column order of the search. It may be better if you had "selling" and "wants to buy" share different color text. For instance, buy could be green, sell could be red (or blue for us colorblind people). Also the order might be better if sorted left to right as:

Game - Made By - Year - Condition - Price - Location - Item Type - Member - Listing Type

Colors would allow you to place the Listing type towards the end of the row and allow for easy browsing by game title (for the "all" search at least).

Anyway, just a suggestion and hope that it helps!

Question: On a site for selling and buying games why would one be able to list a game and enter "is not selling" in its listing.

I know that having a number of games and rare games is a status thing but thats not what your site is about. To me it adds to clutter...

Nice site BTW.

not selling is very useful

Say I need a picture of a part or as the owner how to repair a problem that I have, he may have the answer I need. Sometimes the message board does not give you and answer and this would be another route to find it.

Just did that to test the website. I do want a Pinbot though. :D

Yes... but for $2500? :)

Regardless, I just powered mine back up for the first time in about a month last night. I had stripped it to the playfield/mylar, cleaned and waxed, and rebuilt it with a new set of plastics. It looks phenomenal and plays wonderfully now that it's back together. Just a couple switches to check on (but that will require a thread in the Pinball section) and I can close the game back up again.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely work on tweaks once I make sure the wheels don't fall off. :) Right now, the e-mail notifier is not working right, and the high res photos are grainy/blurry (compression/artifact stuff).

why the "not for sale" posts? (a little long)

The "not for sale" posts will be relevant at a later point, as well. The goal of the site is to be a better tool for the buyer. Here's an example:

Ever buy a game you've never owned before, only to discover a number of things worn/broken with it? Later, you find out that these are common issues with that specific game.

Wouldn't it be nice to consult a list of common problems with a game before you buy? People who own the game can document a common problem, complete with pictures, to help out other buyers. The on-line community votes as to whether it really is a common problem. If a majority agree, the problem is added to the common problem list for the game, (and the submitter is given some contributor points).

Later on, when sellers list that game for sale, they'll be presented with the list of common problems for the game. They can choose to ignore the list, or they can address the list, stating whether the game has the common problems or not (complete with pictures, if they so choose). If the seller goes to the effort of answering and illustrating whether the common problems exist--they are given reputation points (regardless of whether the game has the problems--the point is that the seller is putting in effort for the buyer up front)

Depending on how that is received, maybe I'll add a "how to fix common problems" section.

You get the idea.
