I happened to be googling and saw this post. (sorry if this gets a little long)
Hi, Chris:
I definitely wouldn't have bothered with another "me too" pinball classifieds web site. Let me illustrate:
Say I love modern Stern games, and want to buy one within 200 miles of me for under $3000 (I'm located at postal code 49426). I don't know how long it would take you to get the answer on Mr. Pinball, but here's the answer on pynball.com:
http://www.pynball.com/app/guest/se...Range_BeginYear=2000&soYearRange_EndYear=2010
Here are some features that make it different:
* give the site your "want list" of machines, specifying your max price, furthest distance, minimum condition, etc. and the website will relentlessly hunt for you. No need for you to babysit the site, as once a game you want is posted "for sale", you get an e-mail within the hour.
* new listings are posted immediately, not 72 hours later.
* high res photos (unlimited number) can accompany the listing
* put a web address in the description if you want--I don't care!
* Your e-mail address is protected, just like craigslist. (On Mr. Pin, your e-mail address is exposed to the web--spambots may find you and you may get viagra e-mails)
* add someone to your "block list" and their current and future listings are hidden from you.
* you get *your own* copy of everyone's listings, meaning you can delete people's listings from your copy that you're not interested in (behaves like e-mail).
I designed the site so that it would go to work for the game collector, not have the game collector work to get the information out of the site (at least that's the intent.)
