New video for the MCR attract sound mod...

Yes, unfortunately he likes to tease like that and then not follow up apparently. He did that recently to a thread of mine. I begged in my thread and via PM to no avail. :(

I posted what you want on rgvac. It'll take me just as long to find it as it will you -- why do you think your time is somehow more valuable than mine?

Just curious, does it look like you can control the volume during the attract by changing the resistance of R135?

If I wasn't 200 miles away from my games I know the answer to this already. :D (or I guess I could look at the schematics... but what fun is that?)

Changing the resistance won't work in any useful fashion

All they're doing with that circuit is reverse biasing the diode to cut off the big tantalum cap from squelching the signals going into the amp.

The sound circuity on MCRs is really really shitty. The oscillators all put out square waves, and they achieve 'volume control' by clamping the amplitude of the square wave coming out of the final preamp. They never bother to clean up and filter the signals so there's a shitload of ugly-sounding harmonics instead of pure tones.

For all the people being douchebags, I'm not going to write up anything until I've had a chance to sit down and try what I'm proposing, and none of my working MCRs are accessible to test on, and I'm sure you'd be even bigger pricks if anything I posted wasn't completely accurate, so bascially, you can go fuck yourselves, or you can learn about circuits and figure shit out on your own for once.

Nice to see everyone in such a chipper mood today...

... XOXOXO Mark...

PS: We'd all much prefer to learn how to do stuff from you... since you're already on the hook for your education.

See... win-win!

;)

Jeez Mark. Why do you assume I didn't try to find it??? You couldn't give even a hint of where to look??? I did google for quite a while after your post looking for it, with no luck. Yes, I am apparently a failure at searching. I get the impression that you think your time is more valuable than mine (and others') actually. You take the time to make "I know the answer and none of you do" posts and can't even be bothered to give the slightest hint as to the answer or where to look for the answer? And you apparently imply that I'm one of the douchebags? And I'm one of the would-be pricks? I'm sorry. I have nothing against you, but that is a FAIL, to put it mildly! If you're going to be the opposite of helpful when you make a post, why post at all?

Hey, for those of you that don't wanna cut the leg to the resistor, it may be obvious, but you can just desolder one leg. That's what I did for now. Desoldered it and lifted it slightly above the board so it's not touching anything. I have no desire to turn it off yet, so I haven't wired it to the dip bank, I think attract mode on Satan's Hollow is pretty sweet. Can this be done on Burgertime as well?
