New Vid Owner - Centipede

Nice buy! Looks pretty nice, and nice that it has all the docs. That number of plays is in the normal range. Of course some did get a lot more than that. I can't remember how many mine has offhand.

I wouldn't sweat the screen burn if you can't see it when the game is on, but that's just me.

Thanks for the pics - yep, she's an original, and looks to be in good shape too.

Concerning the sound, I'd say you probably need to rebuild the power/sound board, also known as the ARII (ay-are-too) board. Bob Roberts sells a rebuild kit for it. The ARII board could also be contributing to the whole system not powering up too, since it provides power to everything.

While you're at it, you might as well get a deluxe rebuild kit for the monitor (G07-CBO) too. That'll save you time and hassle down the road if (when!) you need to do monitor repairs.

Well, power problem solved and she's back online. One of the leads on the coin-door safety switch came loose.

Tuned the monitor and got it nice and bright with the right sharpness set. Looks real nice, monitor burn no longer a big concern.

Now - THE SOUND. I checked continuity on the leads to the volume control by the coin door, FINE. I tried tapping in with an external speaker, nothing. I tapped a bit here and there on the cab, and HEY - sound for a brief moment. What the heck! Okay, great sign ... well after tapping away and jiggling connectors I found that when the slam-switch is held in you get sound. Lot's of what sounds like a high-pitched whine, but it's definitely game sounds underneath. So now I'm real puzzled; slam switch off=NO SOUND, slam-switch depress=SOUND. Any ideas???

Thanks!!!
