New Vaps Feature Asked for At Penny Arcadia event...
At the Penny Arcadia Portland event last week, one of our VAPS and forum members (sorry I forgot who) told the story of visiting California (from Oregon) and not having an easy way of looking through VAPS to see what games were for sale.
The standard list shows a list of users for a state or country, with numbers showing how many games they have for sale. You then have to click on each name to see what they have for sale and how current their record looks like.
That question inspired a new page. Now the standard location page, ie:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/location.php?location=California
Has a link on it to a location for sale page like:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/locationsale.php?location=California
This new report shows you everything listed as for sale or wanted in a state or country. You can click to filter the report just to show For Sale (or wanted or both), and can click on some of the columns to sort by them.
For example:
http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/locationsale.php?location=California&sort=3&filter=f
Shows just games 'For Sale' in California, sorted by game name.
http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/locationsale.php?location=California&sort=4&filter=w
Shows just 'Wanted' games in California sorted by type of game (Arcade/EM first, then Pinball grouped together, then videogames).
I hope many you find this helpful...
Note: The last column on each game listed shows a date, which is the later of the last date someone edited the VAPS bio or the date they last edited the individual game entry in their VAPS record. Note that the person could have logged in to VAPS and entered or changed or deleted another game entry and this date would not show up in this report. In other words, a person's last VAPS activity might be more recent than the date shown. I have future plans in changing how VAPS tracks dates, but it isn't happening today.
Also: At some point we are going to start pruning VAPS data for users that have not logged in for a long time, probably beginning with old 'want' entries. For a variety of technical reasons this is a few months out, but it is definitely coming.
