Hi,

I bought a Sunset Riders arcade cabinet yesterday. From what I can tell it's a JAMMA board. Does this mean that I can switch out any other JAMMA boards and play them on their? Is there any way to find out which specific boards will work on it?

I also saw that their are Neo Geo converter things...If I buy this can I then buy Neo Geo carts to use on it?

And lastly, my cabinet has 2 joysticks, but I believe my game is for 4 people. When I put coins in the 2 slots it automatically makes me be the first or second player, but there are a 3rd and 4th player on the selection screen. The screen also flashes an insert credit for the 3rd and 4th player. Is there any way I can add a 3rd and 4th joystick to my arcade cabinet?

Thanks for your help!

According to the KLOV database, your games is JAMMA+.

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9861

So yes, you should be able to put any JAMMA or JAMMA+ board into your game and it should work. There may be sound issues for games that have a separate sound board like Mortal Kombat, and some may need a kick harness if you need more than 4 buttons. Others should be able to help you with your other questions.

Kick harness is a seperate push on connector that allows such things as stereo sound extra buttons even if a game is 4 buttons there is a chance 3 and 4 may be on the kick harness. Namco boards do this I know since I have 2 of them.

There may be a dip switch setting that would change the game to 2 player only.

You would need to provide a picture of you're cabinet before anyone can tell
you whether or not you could comfortably add more sets of controls.

A neo geo board would work in your cabinet, but you may need to do a small
bit of re-wiring to play it.

to go further into your game:

jamma is jamma. you can play most jamma games on your machine. there are however vertical games and horizontal games.

jamma's standard design was to handle a joystick and 3 buttons for 2 players.
jamma + is expanding on that, for games like yours and nba jam, mortal kombat, etc,
that require more than 1 joystick and 3 buttons.

so on an nba jam (and your game too most likely) an additional wiring harness is required(used) and attatches directly to the pcb so you can have the 3rd and 4th player and all the buttons that are required.
for the sake of discussion, if your monitor is vertically mounted you could buy a 60 in 1 pcb and play 60 games in it, the way it is right now.

edit, I notice it's a horizontal monitor, so you can buy boards like rastan, black tiger, and tons of others I am sure.

Along this line and sorry for the hijack, but does anyone know where to get Namco kick harnesses at the moment? I see one on ebay, but the wires are cut short, which is a bit of a pain to deal with, and jammaboards has been out of stock on them for a while.

You could build you own with parts from Bob Roberts. He may even be willing to build it for you...

I emailed bob asking as I was assuming the 24/48 on his connector list was normal pin size (i.e. standard jamma harness pin size) and not the smaller size that Namco was using. I've asked, hopefully he emails back with good news, as those things have been really hard to locate for me.
