Was looking for a light gun cabinet that could swap out Locked N' Loaded, Lethal Enforcers and maybe Total Vice? I see Locked N' Loaded and Lethal Enforcers both use HAPP, but not sure about Total Vice. Apologies beforehand if this is a particularly dumb question.

Total Vice uses the same type of guns as Lethal Enforcers except that it has a speaker in the gun, IIRC. You'll obviously lose that with a Happ gun.

I see that Locked N' Loaded is listed as having VGA resolution on Arcade Museum, but Ebay has two converted cabinets of the game for sale. What would they be conversions from if most light gun shooters from the time didn't have VGA resolution?

Happ .45 cal light guns will only work with 15khz standard resolution, therefore if Happ guns work with the game it has to be standard rez. Looks like the info in the museum is incorrect. (not suprising ;))

You can change the monitor if you do a conversion, though. A gun game cab can easily be converted from a standard rez gun game to vga rez with a monitor swap.

Can I use a 45 Cal Happ on a Supergun by connecting the 4 pin line directly to the PCB board, or is an optic board required? I see Lethal Enforcers boards have a pinout that looks very similar to what a Happ gun would plug into so I'm pretty confused.

The Locked N' Loaded board in this picture has a 4 pinout next to a 5? pinout, but I don't know what I'm looking at. It's in the bottom left of the ebay picture. Something else in the top left looks like a 6-pin to 4-pin converter but I'm not sure.

Looking at the Total Vice boards, I don't see anything that resembles a pinout.

The guns connect to CN9 on that board (it's the 11 pin connector on the small daughter board in the lower right corner of the Ebay auction photo). You can see how to wire it up on page 18 of the owners manual : http://www.arcade-history.com/manua...95-01 & -02 - 366-0129-01 - Data East USA.pdf

Total Vice looks like it is two 5 pin connectors (CN18 & CN19). See page 44 of the manual for the wiring diagram : http://tamdb.net/T/Total Vice.pdf

Thanks for clearing that up! If my CRT TV runs JAMMA boards no problem, what would prevent it from registering light gun input?

Also, what kind of components would I need to create my own custom pinout this requires? It doesn't look outright difficult but you can see I haven't done this before.

Nothing, actually. Just make sure you are hooking your Supergun to a CRT only. Light guns will not work on LCD, projection, or plasma TVs (at least not for those games... newer VGA res gun games use a different system and don't work with Happ guns)

You will just need the 5, 4 or 11 pin types of connectors and some wire. Since I use my Happ guns on four different PCBs (Area 51/Maximum Force, Lethal Enforcers, Zero Point and Deer Hunting USA), I put a little dongle on the gun connecters for each board that ends in a 4 pin DIN female plug. My guns have a matching 4 pin male plug. That way I can just plug the guns in and play, no need to find the correct adapters, etc. The PCBs all have the same 4 pin plug. This also takes care of the fact that some games (like the Locked 'n Loaded board) don't have standard gun connectors.

Not true, Star Trek Voyager by Team play uses Happ opto guns and the cockpit has a Med res monitor and will only work with a Med res monitor but the Voyager kit will work with either a Med or standard res monitor which is dip switch settable and both versions use Happ guns.

I see the 45 Cals have Red/White/Black/Blue wiring while the Total Vice guns have Red/White/Black/Yellow wiring according to that pdf. Total Vice guns seem to utilize only 4 of the 5 pins, so I'm thinking the 45 Cals would plug right into the Total Vice connectors with no issue?

The Locked 'N Loaded conversion seems doable, but the document mentions a sound adaptor. Would I need that for audio on a Supergun?

Okay last question! What size pins are on a board like Locked N' Loaded for this HAPP gun conversion. I see a choice of 3 female quick connect sizes for the wiring: .110, .187 and .250. Is there a standard for this type of thing?

That will work as long as the Total Vice gun output is the same wiring order, ie: +5, trigger, ground, optic/hit. If the wires are in a different order on the board than the guns, you will need a wiring adapter.

According to the manual, there isn't any audio output on the JAMMA connector, so yes, you would need to run a couple of wires from the audio connector to the JAMMA harness or run the audio directly to your Supergun's speaker connections.

Since I don't own a Locked N' Loaded (although, I did snag that broken one you linked to from Bill Burger for $35.00 :p) I can't say the size for sure, but from looking at the picture it seems it is one of the smaller two sizes.
