Since VJ got the program up and running, im going to make a new thread on these.

I still have a bunch of these screens. If you havent seen the specs on these, heres the old thread

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=103306

The ones i have left, have the VGA cable was cut on these Its a easy fix, and this is why theres a big discount. These were all working when taken out

2 Screens for 30$ Plus Shipping, I pack this stuff nice, and send UPS

Or if you buy 4 Screens, Save 10$ 4 for 50$ Plus Shipping

This is a hell of a deal. When you going to get 4 lcd screen for 50$????

I dont want to sell these 1 at a time. 2 or 4, not singles. If you want more then 4 we will work out a deal. Just ask Riptor....lol

Donny, The VGA cable isn't really needed. There is a Female connector on the PCB that you can just plug a regular VGA cable into. The little cable was just an extension to the outside of the unit it was mounted in. You still had to have a male to male cable no matter if you used that little one or not.

One last update... I installed Windows 3.1 on my Dos Machine and loaded up the lwtouch.drv driver that was posted to the other thread. It was really easy to install as the readme file tells you how to edit the INI files. Anyway, just wanted to report that it works on Windows 3.1. I was able to double tap for a double click, etc..

Has anyone retried the other drivers that were originally posted for NT 3.51 and NT 4.0? I have not seen anyone mention them since we discovered you had to ground the touch panel chassis to get touch events.

Funny, I never thought I would ever use my Windows 3.1 or Windows NT4 install disks again. Anyone know what Jukebox software can be used with Win 3.1?

I have not checked out the windows ones yet to know what versions they support, but here is a good list to check.

http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Jukebox_Software

Windows 3.x would be harder to find Jukebox software for, but since that same driver is supposed to support Windows 95 that would much more likely to get something for that version. Windows 95 supports DirectX so that is probably the sweet spot for support.

Looks like http://dwjukebox.com supports Windows 95 and up. Some of the other ones look like they support at least 98, and might run on 95. The main issue I see for many of those programs is that they require more than 640x480 which is what these screens support. I am going to give the DWJukebox a try on DOS to see how I like it and if I want to build a dedicated machine for it.

The biggest problem you will find with DOS is sound card support. I have been there with DOS mame.

It seems that if one takes a 10 in touch screen, a computer motherboard with sound card, and a speaker system one might just be able to make a 30 pound iPod ;)

DWJukebox looks like it has good sound card support. Even if a new board doesn't have a compatible sound card built-in, you could pickup a SoundBlaster or compatible card just about anywhere... If I build a full jukebox, it will be from hardware I already have on hand including one of my old SoundBlaster cards. ;)

I'm still not convinced that I want a Jukebox... Might be a home automation controller for me or just a project control panel.

Here is a list of cards known to be working with DOSCab:

Creative Labs SoundBlaster 1.0
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 1.5
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 2.0
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Pro
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16 ISA
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 32 ISA
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 64 ISA
Creative Labs Soundblaster PCI 512 (requires SBEINIT.COM)
Creative Labs SoundBlaster PCI 128
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live!
Creative Vibra16 Model CT4180
ESS Technology - ES1938/ES1941/ES1946 Solo-1(E) AudioDrive
ESS ES1869 AudioDrive
CompUSA 32bit 4 Channel PCI Sound Card (part #272121)
ASUS K7M (motherboard with onboard sound)
IWill KK266-R (motherboard with onboard sound)
ThinkPad 380ED (laptop with onboard sound)

Cards based on the following chipsets should also work:

Creative CT2960
Creative CT4170
Creative CT4180
Creative CT4380
Creative CT4500
Creative CT4520
Crystal Semiconductor CS4236
Via VT82C686A
ALS 4000
C-media CM8738

Let me know if you need any help. I've sent a PM about the screens so I'll hopefully have one soon to test with DWJukebox.

Welcome to the forums! I am certainly going to give it a try. I need to stick another hard disk in the machine I am testing with first. It looks like DWJukebox has the right skin capabilities for what I want to do. I like the skin you have where you touch the song instead of entering a song code (Virtual Jukebox style). Direct manipulation is the whole point of touch. ;)

Of course I will want to do my own skin with updated graphics and will certainly ask questions if I get stuck on something..

In case you missed it from one of the other threads... Here is a link to the correct DOS and Windows 3.x drivers.

http://web.archive.org/web/19971017225141/www.deeco.com/software/index.html

You want the IR Touch screen driver that is listed.

Edit: I am thinking about making a skin something more like this, but with updated 2009 graphics and colors if I decide to build a full Juke.

VJ, whats the newest OS that will run these things? I would love to be able to use it on an xp machine. I want to put a pc together for the workbench and this would be great since its small and would eliminate the need for a mouse. You can also use a keyboard emulator to free up even more space.

This is Pretty cool!!! Might now have to keep a few for myself

VJ, now we need to figure out what to do with those power supplys...lol, i need those out of the garage also

Of the two that I got the one that I tried out yesterday the image looked like a negative. Do some of these require an inverter?
