new stern facebook teaser pic

Never said they wouldn't sell just that it wasn't going to be drawing any new players at arcades etc. Maybe that's all that matters is selling pins now since the Best buy announcement that would make sense. I just think that a more universal and current theme would be beneficial in the way of drawing kids back to arcades?

Drawing kids back to arcades? I think you're going to need more than a Taylor Swift pinball machine to pull that one off.

i just have no idea where we're gonna get the money....

I know what your wife will say:

Home Arcade: Golden Tee Complete/Silver Strike '07 (IT cab); NBA Max Hangtime, NBA Jam: TE, NBA Jam, Open Ice (4-P cab); NFL Blitz '99; Carnival King; 2129-in-1 (dynamo cab) //// PINS: Star Wars (DE); WHO Dunnit; Starship Troopers; South Park; Black Rose; Zip-A-Doo (EM); White Water; TRON LE (#305)

Ugh, could there be a more tired topic than "stern puts out new theme, half love it, other half hate it, third half screams saying it won't appeal to kids and will kill pinball"

Guys, a theme alone isn't going to reinvent and reintroduce pinball enough to change jack shit in the industry (ahem, one company).

It's like saying that kids would line up for lincoln town cars if they could just find the right paint color.

With that rant over, this may be my first serious NIB consideration!

I like Tron. I like Transformers. But I fucking love Star Wars. Seriously, my heart is racing just thinking about this. I'm 28, and loved the original trilogy, love the new trilogy (except Jar Jar, and kid Anikin). I have thousands of the toys, both old and new. I have friends with kids, and they are all in to Star Wars. This pin will sell. It won't be the savior of arcades, or even of pinball, but it will sell at least as well as Tron. If this comes out with a LE, I too will be on the D-list. And damn happy to be there.

Forget them... Stern sold the first wave of Pro and LE Tron's like crazy and that is all Stern cares about. I'm actually tired of hearing the "new players" thing.

Todays kids are assholes. They like shitty music, wear their pants around their asses, baseball hats sideways and like slow cars with loud stereos. How could they appreciate anything cool when they think Eminem and Honda Civics with fart can exhausts are cool?

I don't want them into the things I like, they're douche bags that like all the things I hate!

Exactly. If you watch 70's show at all it's a perfect example Red is always bustin Eric's chops for liking star wars as well lol

the caption reads:

son vs. dad

and it's sitting on top of some kind of transformers box or something.

sooooooooooo, what's up with this teaser pic? is it too early to jump to any conclusions about a new star wars pin?

i know there's probably a lot of posters that would poo-poo a star wars pin right off the bat since it's been done several times. i am not, however, one of those posters. i can tell you right now that a new star wars pin would most definitely be my second NIB purchase.

so.....thoughts on the teaser?

Stern should just simply make a special return of the wide body pinball pitting Star Wars vs. Star Trek . It could be a special license and the top marquee could have Spock wrestling Chewbacca....LOL.... Just think Paul and Ringo could have cameo songs for the music. One game --music/sci fi pinball in one!!

Wars vs Trek? Pass.

I'm just hoping it is an all out Star Wars pin, and not some goofy hybrid of 80's toys (the Transformers box at the bottom of the pic has me worried)

Right it has a massive following of 40 yo dudes not school age kids. Wouldn't you want somthing more popular with TODAYS kids? How many are running around with star wars lunch boxes or backpacks anymore?

Well, um.....cuz......cuz 40 year old dudes are the ones buying pinball machines........... ha ha.

I am not 40, but I do have Data East SW, Sega SW Trilogy, and the pin2000 star wars ep 1.

Not sure why...really, just got on a star wars kick I guess. They are not all set up, but likem.

I heart sterns new star wars pin and will buy 1 for every one of my children!

I sense a great disturbance in the force ............

I believe they are testing are opinions for Star Wars, because they are releasing all the Star Wars films back in theaters next year in 3d.

If Stern does this, I will be broke and divorced.......

Couldn't have stated it more perfectly.

As for Son vs. Dad...basically Old trilogy vs. New trilogy. That's 6 movies to try to put into one game...tough to do. My other concern would be price. Disney licensed products are always a premium, but Star Wars is in a whole different echelon. I would fathom $9k for a LE. Now folks, seriously, that's the price of a car or a pretty good chunk towards college tuition for your kid. I make a pretty damn good living, and also am probably as big a SW fan as anyone here on the board...but even I have to say the price will really be prohibitive and foolish. That being said, if Best Buy were to carry the LEs, have a good price, and 3 years no interest financing? Well, that might make me change my tune.

Best buy wont have access to any new pins until they have been out for 90 days. THats how they are trying to keep us distributors happy.

EDIT- My point is that if its a successful LE than they wont have a chance at selling one.

They should do a "pinheadz" type of game...

...put a "Clay" figure in the middle with the object of knocking him down before he deletes the Pin Repair archives...

...perhaps a "Steve Ritchie" ramp that leads to a spinner... etc...

You and me too brother...I know that your 9K was a W.A.G. at the price, but if it's even near that I'm out. I'd probably look for a SWE1 kit for my RFM. Tron's close to 6K was past my limit, but I did it anyway and am paying for it now. No way I could go more.

i'm just hoping that dude's W.A.G. on price is just that.

i swear, i just don't see them pricing it much higher than TRON LE. i can't imagine they'd sell a whole helluva lot at a much higher price point. i know pin collectors tend to have a little bit more disposable income (hell, you have to just to get into the hobby), but if this thing comes out in the next year you're talking about competing with the money people have spent on TRON LE, tranformers LE, WOZ, and possibly a music-themed stern pin as well.

We will see at the TF release party at the expo. I will play it and report on it, and then buy it.........and play it some more!
