new stern facebook teaser pic

Right it has a massive following of 40 yo dudes not school age kids. Wouldn't you want somthing more popular with TODAYS kids? How many are running around with star wars lunch boxes or backpacks anymore?

Uh... go to walmart.com and type in STAR WARS in to the search field. You're going to feel really silly about the comment above afterward.

SW is the grail of licenses. A BAD pin would easily move 2 - 3k. If its a good pin, the community will take notice and shatter any records. Tell me no? Tron, a "less than" theme (relative to SW) did very well.

Sure, SW has been worked before and to death - but cmon folks, tell me one SW that you want to own - besides the incredible Atari SW from 83 (i have the cockpit and love it) or, the Sega standup from the 90s. Thats it - cant think of anything else - especially Pinball. And i have ALOT of Faith in Stern to make it work.

Stern is really taking this JJP "threat" seriously. Between the Tron Pin (not just the great job with the outcome, but their overcoming any issues they had with Disney to make it happen), to the hirings of some big names (SR and GG), to the recent TF teasers. I can see how they will keep the ammo flowing and do whatever it takes on themes to combine with that talent.

SW is within reach. I am really giddy right now (it could be the afternoon pepsi - but i am elated!).

Oh, and I still say Pokemon or Bakugan would be hilarious as pinball machines. You've already got the "ball" theme going on...talk about stuff that would be kid friendly.

I still say its the 40 yo dudes buying the crap. Kids don't wear , play with, or talk about star wars around her!

Must just be what your parents were into then because i am around a ton of kids all the time and don't think i've ever seen or heard any playing star wars? You are right about that lego star wars but I think thats just a good game like all those lego games.

oh, i'm into star wars. sure. not sure some of his friends' parents are...they may be, but there's a couple of them that don't seem like the star wars type. lol.

it's funny....i was posting this reply and my youngest son comes running by with a light saber in hand. no kidding. i had to stop him and take a pic:

no, it's the kids. star wars is HUGE with today's kids....moreso the clone wars cartoons and games and the lego sets and toys than the original movies, but it's still HUGE.

I don't really have one in mind per say but are you tellin me you can't think of anything more popular than star wars? Come on I know it has a massive and loyal following but is it really going to bring any new pinball players I think not. Hell as much as I despise harry potter even that seems to make more sense to me? Mabye its just the sci fi hater in me I'm just tired of seeing crap from star wars?

You can't just turn it around on me. Nice try though. I could come up with lots of stuff more popular than Star Wars. Like sex or Jesus. That doesn't make them a good theme for a profitable pinball machine manufacturing endeavor.

Stern is about selling pinball machines and I could easily see Star Wars outselling Harry Potter. Theme alone is not going to bring many new pinball players to the table.

I don't think it's the greatest theme personally because it's already been done to death in pinball but that's purely a selfish opinion. For Stern it's a smart theme choice.

Thats awesome! I give up I guess I'm just around hoodrat kids or somthing? I knew I was a minority here but I can't believe NO ONE else thinks this is dumb? I am not saying they won't make money on it I am simply saying that another theme could draw some NEW pinball fans?

I am not trying to "turn" anything. I just dont think this will bring any NEW pinball players?

I don't think anyone has touched Star Wars as Pop culture for a movie based theme.
I mean its what nearly 35 years ago since the first film, and Star Wars is still the most popular theme for Gaming, clothes, toys......uh yh George is a marketing genius.
Hell the Droid phone gives royalties to Lucas, for using the term used from the damn films....haha.

Well... I can't think of any examples but surely YOU can think of some examples where you might have.

And your argument about new players is not really valid.

Why would my argument over new players be invaild? Isn't that the goal of most companies is to attract as many customers as possible? It seems you would have to get NEW customers to make this happen?

I dunno... I'm thinking a Sex themed pin may sell...

:D

Star Wars nerds have kids. They raise their kids on Star Wars. Their kids become Star Wards nerds....it's like religion! ;)

That's a great point. My parents were into other things and I followed that and so did my brothers and sisters. I just don't know how many star wars fans actually got girls to sleep with them?
