new STERN facebook teaser...it's a whitewood this time

well, part of a whitewood anyway.

since i don't have any NIB pinball funds right now, i've been sorta out of the loop as far as upcoming/rumored titles. no idea what this one is...or could be.

thoughts?

the caption under the pic reads:

"Oooh new whitewood in the programers office. — with John Borg."

Borg is denying every suggestion that is made. No one really knows this time for sure.
Looks like we will have to wait this one out.

Borg has said that it was a comic book and was a movie... Could be whatever has a new movie coming out or something so really the possibilities are endless!

Pretty much narrows it down to Avengers or Superman.

Next Stern is XMEN. Those two sling back loops look very XMENy to me - dont know why just a feeling.

Of course, that could be the game AFTER xmen - i'm guessing its not - probably XMEN in white wood stages now.

gi joe fits the bill as well.

and they had a "yo joe" teaser post on there a few days ago...

Eh, I don't see it. Transformers has huge draw from the classic fans, the GI JOE reboot movies seem to have been a pretty big flop. I'm surprised that after the first one a sequel was even warranted. I don't know a single person from the other communities I associate with that openly talked about it at the time, or has ever brought it up.

Just don't see it being a theme with real mass appeal, but then again, maybe they will pull a Tron, and release a very limited quantity of LE's knowing that the market will be less but sufficient to take a few hundred and drive the price through the roof. I wouldn't have expected that Tron was a big enough licence to generate the interest that it did, so what do I know?

Here's a question for the people who keep saying Borg's next title is X-Men.

Why?

Stern has a pretty standard formula for choosing titles. Either it's a movie/TV property, sports, or music. And when it's a movie property, the table is usually timed to come out near the DVD release of said movie. This is a formula that's been in effect for 10 years now (as 2002 saw Playboy, RCT, and HD reissue).

So unless Stern is bucking their decade old trend, why X-Men? There's no new movie coming out (to my knowledge). And throwing out that it would be comic based (which would, honestly, be completely awesome), which movies are they pulling from: First Class or X1/X2/XSuck trilogy? Then there's actor licensing which, for the original trilogy, seems like it'd be quite a bit -- especially since the trilogy isn't current (though package licensing deals like that may not expire).

I'm not saying it couldn't be X-Men, but I just don't know why it's being considered by so many to be X-Men (other than one person originally saying it was). What am I missing?

not sure about that either....honestly, when i saw people saying x-men i just thought they were referring to the new avengers movie and got mixed up.

MIB (men in black) - 3rd movie coming out and was a comic book.

Maybe they're working on another 'first class' movie? It was very very successful and made the studio a ton of money... wouldn't surprise me if another one is coming out, but I"m sure it'd be public knowledge by now.

The ramps look very... 'flying' like... so definately superhero related I would think.
