New stairwell lights for The Lost Highway Arcade...

I keep trying to add new things to my arcade that pertain to the theme, "The Lost Highway Arcade".

Tonite I just finished up a small project. I put some old construction hazard lights(lenses) in the stairwell leading down into the arcade. They are about 7.5 inches in diameter.

They didn't fit well at first, so I trimmed off the rounded base on one side of each lens with a cutoff wheel and a grinder. Then I cut a relief on each side of the outlet cover to accomodate the plastic anchors that hold the screws on each side to keep each lens tight to the wall. This way, when a bulb burns out I can just unscrew them without any damage to the sheetrock.

The old light covers I had were just mini plastic lampshade looking things. After a decade, it was time for those to go.

I plan on replacing all of the white tiles on the stairwell with black ones, then get some yellow reflective tape to simulate highway lines when walking down the stairs. Should be pretty cool when I'm done....

Awesome! That looks really nice. What a great name/theme for an arcade. Now you need to get Phet to design a sign for you, and you'll have to move your Gun Fight and put a driving cab in it's current spot...

Very VERY COOL! Just watched your Youtube vid! Awesome basement arcade! Those lights will be the icing on the cake!!

Thanks for the compliments gentlemen. I would like a Sprint 2 for the driving game I'm missing...

No need for a sign, a friend of mine painted this mural on the north wall of the larger side of my gameroom; in case you hadn't seen this yet....

I made my own telephone/utility poles, too.

Those lights are the perfect fit. Nicely done!

The creativity of people on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

Great idea, and very well done! You should be very proud of that amazing space!

cool man!!! Keeps getting better and better man..

sounds dumb but if you paint your water heater and furnace flat black theyll be much less noticable. Thats how i "hid" all the firnace ducts and pipes in my arcade.. works like magic with the lights dimmed

That water heater is going to be replaced with an on demand wall mount. That opens up more space for another game....

Very sweet! So will they blink too? :p Though that might pose a safety problem

No, they don't blink as of yet. That is something that I should do, no doubt. My foyer light at the top of the stairs is really bright, so that essentially lights up the stairwell nicely. The construction lights are more of a novelty at this point, although they will light up the stairwell if the foyer lights are off....

Hey John, I finally joined IAM. I always love seeing the things you add to the arcade. I can't wait until I take my next trip the "The Lost Highway".
