Sweet !!

Nice work!

This is something I think quite a few people out there have been looking for. I sent you a PM, but also pasted here to see what other's comments might be. I will want to purchase one when you are ready to sell. So I have a few things I'm curious about:

1. Price, is it $70? That's what it looks like on your web site, just want to confirm...

2. What wire harness would be required for this?

3. I have a working Space Duel PCB, but want to put in a Tempest cabinet - is this ok?

4. I have a Tempest cabinet that was converted to Major Havoc, but no game board in it. I believe the wire harness in it was the original Tempest, will that work with the Space Duel / Major Havoc conversion PCB?

5. In my research, it seems like working Space Dual boards sell for less than working Tempest boards. But it also seems like the Major Havoc conversion cabinets were more common on the Tempest cabinets - I might be incorrect in stating that, but I think there will be demand for Space Duel / Major Havoc boards that will go into Tempest style cabinets.

6. If the wire harness required for the SD/MH board is different than the Tempest wire harness, maybe its possible to have a harness adapter for the Tempest cabinet setup?

Thanks!

Thank you all for the wonderful comments :). The SD/MH board represents a lot of work (not as much work as a repro Quantum board but still) and it was fun to do. I found out a couple of years ago that finding the SD version converter board (as apposed to the Tempest version) was very difficult to say the least. I was able to borrow one (to be returned) to use to test my game and then I thought maybe I should just duplicate it so that I'd have one or two for myself. That way, selling the extras would help out other people too. When the thisoldgame and phoenixarcade shops released their repro cab art and cpo's for the SD cab, I thought there would be a lot more people converting their SD cabs to MH but only if they could find all of the pieces of the puzzle. The new SD/MH converter board (my part# BXMHCSD) is my contribution to that effort. Now we need someone to repro the steel control panel. I am presently reworking mine and it has not been a simple task thus far.

The Tempest version of the converter card seems to be much more common although if there is enough demand, I could produce a repro of that one as well. The thing is, most people really like Tempest so unless they have more than one of them, they aren't as likely to want to convert it as they are a Space Duel. I think that SD is a great game and I love playing it. I have 3 of them so #1 plays SD and Gravitar, #2 plays Black Widow, and now #3 plays MH. I just love these old color vector classic games.

That will be very soon so you should go to the webpage and email me directly from the link at the bottom. That is how I am tracking orders.

So I have a few things I'm curious about:
1. Price, is it $70? That's what it looks like on your web site, just want to confirm...-GackAttack
Yes, it costs as indicated at the top of the webpage except of course shipping will be added on an individual basis.

2. What wire harness would be required for this?-GackAttack
Space Duel.

3. I have a working Space Duel PCB, but want to put in a Tempest cabinet - is this ok?-GackAttack
Not really. Tempest has a totally different wiring harness and different controls. Anything is possible if you want it badly enough. This has zero to do with my BXMHCSD board.

4. I have a Tempest cabinet that was converted to Major Havoc, but no game board in it. I believe the wire harness in it was the original Tempest, will that work with the Space Duel / Major Havoc conversion PCB?-GackAttack
No, not at all. You would need the Tempest to MH converter board. This is more commonly available than the SD-to-MH converter. Since the SD version is so rare and hard to find, I decided to repro it. As my webpage says, it will not work for Tempest. Tempest has a totally different pinout.

5. In my research, it seems like working Space Dual boards sell for less than working Tempest boards. But it also seems like the Major Havoc conversion cabinets were more common on the Tempest cabinets - I might be incorrect in stating that, but I think there will be demand for Space Duel / Major Havoc boards that will go into Tempest style cabinets.-GackAttack
The first two statements are correct. Many more Tempest-to-MH conversion kits were produced relative to SD conversion kits. Tempest is a more popular game than SD, no contest. The converter boards for both T and SD look similar to each other but are definitely not interchangeable.

6. If the wire harness required for the SD/MH board is different than the Tempest wire harness, maybe its possible to have a harness adapter for the Tempest cabinet setup?-GackAttack
Such adapters could certainly be made by hand using the same method that people use to make jamma adapters. It's simply a reordering of pins. I thought about making a plug-in adapter board that includes both of the connectors and no electronics so that the SD/MH converter could be used inside a Tempest, but that would mean that Tempest owners would have to pay for both boards. It would also double the number of connections and that increases the chances for problems, especially long term. If I was going to go as far as to make an adapter PCB, I might as well instead just produce the Tempest converter board instead. I might do that if there is enough demand but so far only one person has spoken up in favor of it.
