Capcom Mini Cute SCORE! Special thanks to StuffMonger.
5.5 hours of driving each way but I have wanted one of these awesome little cabs for awhile. Finally found one. It has some spot rust here and there but the monitor is beautiful. Any tips on cleaning small spot rust? Any kind of car detailing products?

Nice refrigerator! Haha, just kidding. :D That machine is weird, but strangely cool! I'd never heard of a capcom mini before. Is the front all-metal?

thats awesome but it seems like it probably would have fit in a medium flat rate box.

lol Yeah pretty much. It is all metal and only 4 feet tall. The thing is tiny and has what looks like a 19" monitor. I read somewhere it is just shy of a 19" monitor though?

Yeah it was a really cool trip besides all the driving. When I went down to LA it was just to buy the capcom mini cute. After buying the cute I went over to look at what was going to be auctioned at the captain's auction that is happening this saturday in Anaheim. I saw this MVU4-25 and realized it would probably fit in the car alongside the mini cute. Not many other candy cabs would fit alongside a mini cute in my Honda CRV. It was an EXACT fit with no room to spare. So I made an offer and got it! Double score!

Nice score! 11 hours of driving is a haul but atleast it was worth it!

As for cleaning up the rust... I've had good luck removing rust and road grime from chrome with turtle wax chrome polish (takes some elbow grease and i'm not sure if it will work in your situation). other than that steel wool would work well as long as it's just surface rust but that will also remove the paint i'm sure. your prolly going to end up having to remove some paint regardless tho as to keep it from returning i recommend sanding down to bare metal then priming then paint.

I am trying to figure out why a cab that small has 2 lifting eyelets on top? Is it heavy due to all the metal?

Nice find! I have never seen one of those before. Thanks for sharing!

I think in Japan they tied a whole row of these together so you can't walk off with one in your pocket. lol It is pretty heavy because it is all metal. And this one is missing a few of the casters unfortunately and it makes it a pain to move around right now. I did find a french website that discusses finding the exact wheels for replacement. There are like 6 wheels on this thing originally.

Here is a quote from the french website in case someone is trying to ever find the wheels.

the wheels identical:

For a cute requires:
2 x FT-38R
2 x S-38R-SG
2 x RS-38R
- 2 to the rear of the body are fixed,
- 2 in front of the body are on ball bearing with a stop,
- 2 ball bearing on the front door.

That's the great thing about this place. Just when you think you've seen everything the industry put out there, something like this pops up. Brings back a bit of the old feeling of seeing a new machine in the arcade for the first time.

As for the rust, think of it like a car body. If it's just surface rust, use some fine wet sand paper. There's no way to keep the paint, but you should be able to make the transition between paint and metal mostly seamless. Being that it is metal, and you want a good finish, I would lean towards something like RustOLeum. It'll take longer to dry, but that makes it easier to get a good "wet coat" to keep things even looking.

Nice score!
