New RUSTY QUARTERS Retro Arcade & Museum Website

Wow. That was a douche thing to say Adamdiz.

Rusty Quarters looks like it has the potential to be awesome. The number of games a retro-arcade has doesn't matter, its the spirit and vibe of the location that makes it special. Have you ever seen CADE gallery in Phoenix before it closed? It only had like 6 games in the space, but it was REALLY cool looking and had a great community feel.

Everyone should be excited that retro arcades are actually OPENING instead of closing. The more the merrier. I wish you luck. Keep us posted - I want pictures!!!

+1. I will agree its a tough thing to do, but we all have this dream, and i hope for you guys it works out and becomes something fantastic!!

mabye you could also branch off into sales as well,

" what better way to finish off your man cave than with a beautifully restored game straight from rusty quarters arcade?"

huh?huh? you like that? im rallying for you guys. Best of luck.

You guys looking for a nice working Space Wars? It was the first B&W vector game evar you know. 2 player fun for one quarter. I will be selling mine soon, and would rather it go to a public venue like this than to a local collector. It has been restored and works 100%. If interested, let me know. I'm about 70 miles West of Minneapolis on I-94.

oh snap i forgot about phetty.. (keep him happy guys).

i have another idea too about the 50 cent dilemma.

mabye like once a month, have a 1980s day where the games are only a wuarter, just like bitd.. just a thought.

THAT, my friend, is a great idea. It would most definitely keep the game inventory fresh, allow local collectors a place to showcase games for sale, and you get to earn while they're placed.

I'd be sure the legal contracts cover who's in charge of maintenance, repairs, damages, etc, but it's a great idea!

That would be Lloyd at SS Billiards. I have sold quite a few pinball machines by placing them on location at his place. He keeps them working in tip top shape and gets to keep all the coin drop until it sells. I have another pinball machine I am putting at his place this weekend for sale. :)

Uh Oh! NEW GAME!!!! What is it? I'll have to pop in and check it out. Will it be there for the Crazy Joe event, I think I might actually be able to make this one :)

I don't think I will get it there before Thursday night, probably will be Friday night, just in time for the Pinball Circus this weekend. I am bringing my 1987 Gottlieb Monte Carlo for sale ($500 OBO) and most likely my Congo too, which isn't really for sale. The Congo will be going home with me, but the Monte Carlo will stay until it sells. Congo might actually be going to Eby Island for the winter and maybe a Dr. Who pinball machine I am picking up too...we will have to see.

My big question for you guys is this:

Should we double up on Donkey Kong?

Even though we only have a couple of machines running at our current store. Donkey Kong seems to be the crowd favorite. We had an incident that one of my hardcore gamer friend was trying to beat his high score and a little boy really wanted to play. Not understanding that a proffessional game of Donkey Kong can easily last 15-20 minutes, the kid (and father) left out store unhappy. Even my buddy felt bad but he was having a good game and couldn't just walk away.

Because of this we were thinking about getting 2 dk machines in our arcade. Not only to give others a chance to paly but we do want to have Kong-off's in the near future.

anyone have any horror stories about this situation? Is there any other games I should considering Doubling up on?

I say if the demand is there you should definitely get another. If there are always lines forming around it, might as well have two of them. Give the people what they want.

Another idea would be to let people sell there games at your location. There is a local pinball guy that does that. He keeps all the coinage in exchange for the seller getting great exposure and a safe place to have people come check it out. I know I personally have had a few people over from craigslist in my house that I felt a little uneasy about...

Unfortunately, in MN it's a pain to do that. I would still need to register each game with the state and wait 15ish days for the coin-op license stickers to show up. If it's not licensed with the state, I have to keep the games off with an out of order sign. If you have a unregistered machine on without a license, it's a fine of $127 per machine and the city can take the machines away. Also I don't want customers to get rough with a consignment machine and have an argument with the owner how I'm responsible for damages.

I did read that Namco leases new games to arcades, bowling allys, and entertainment centers. That might be worth checking out...

Thanks for the offer but I've made agreements, making a total of 21 machines to open with. Even though I REALLY WANT IT, we won't be able to purchase another game for 1-2 months after opening. If you still have it around March, I'll still be interested.

Thanks!

We're thinking about that. Also thinking about having a $5 flat rate for free play between 12-3pm... thinking that'll bring in business during slow hours.

Sounds good. I do have another guy interested, so we'll see.

Except keep Dragon's Lair at .50....hey it's 80s authentic. :D

We were actually thinking about making dragons Lair a 25¢ game, since it falls into our "Continue ?" Platforms. Most games will be 50¢ but true quarter eaters we want to (hopefully) charge 25¢.

I wonder if you can set a DL Cabinet to 25¢?

Just do $.50 for the first game and $.25 continues.

Nice! Excited to have Congo over at my Cousins, you and him claim it;s a great game. I have only played it a few times and didn't care for it but I must be missing something right :)

can it be set like that?

No. It cannot be set to take 1 coin either. The number of coins for 1 credit can only be set to 2, 3, or 4. So it could never be a 25 cent game.

It does have quite a few different settings that you can activate on when the user would have to enter more coinage depending on how far they are in the game.
