No more buying stuff until you get what you have in 100% working order and restored how you planned.

EDIT: *This rule is subject for temporary deferment in the unlikely event of a good deal on a project Punch-Out!*

For the most part I have been following that rule. I only break it if I find an amazing deal on a game or something incredibly rare pops up that I know won't come around again. So far I have been just buying parts for what I have and I'm trying to get everything working 100%. So that I can hopefully throw a party this Halloween we will see its just an idea right now.

I don't think I could be that disciplined, but there is something to your plan.
Having too many projects going at the same time is one of the things that leads to getting burned out on the hobby.

Two projects is a safe number I think. It won't typically get your work area all cluttered up, and you can work on the second machine if you're having trouble or looking for parts for the first.

Amen to that brother. I have a whole gameroom full of games that need work and found myself spending most of my time doing board repairs for others.

Ok, if I find a good deal on a Punch-Out in the tri-state area - I'm deferring that rule, but that's the only exception. LOL

I made a list of what needed to be done on each of my games the other day and I project I'll be done with them around the year 2034. Nevertheless, I was searching CL just a few minutes ago...

You sir, are an evil genius.

You put this out there for all of us to read & we all nod and say, "True, very true..." and you nod along with us and say "I know, I know... just gotta be this way."

And suddenly there's more games for you to find & work on, because we're all following your rule and staying away from purchasing.

I, for one, will not fall for your clever ruse.

Good day to you, sir.

You've foiled my dastardly plan yet again Adamzero. My plan involves snagging up a garage soo full of non-working games that I can't walk through it anymore. It is all part of my larger plan to defend myself against ever getting vagina again!

BTW: Anyone have any Nintendo leaf buttons laying around they don't want? LOL

Good luck with that new rule.

My only rule is to not buy games I don't have space for. Now this is a rule that works. ;)
Sucks too because I have my eye on some more cabs that I was going to try and work out a deal on. Can't do it until I clear some space though.

I have started to just work on one project untill it's done. I used to work on several at a time, just went in the shop and did what I felt on whatever game... took a long time to get any one project done done. But now I will try to bust my hump on a single project at a time, unless it's an assembly line situation, like painting several at once.

That would be a good rule, but the "no machines come in the house unless they are working 100%" was imposed by my wife. Along with a variation of the "furniture rule" I imposed on her a couple of years ago: "For every piece of furniture that comes in the house, an equal amount of furniture has to leave" (replace furniture with arcade equipment). Paybacks are a bitch! :(
