I picked up an Omega Race from a fellow KLOVian and local Blackdogmachine... dude has picked up some insanely beautiful pinball machines as of late...

Anyway, the Omega Race is half put together... and doesn't fully work. It comes with a two boardsets... one good one not-so-good... a working WG V2000... and two populated control panels...

The seller didn't delve in to the issues of the cabinet but thinks it's a power supply issue. I've done nothing thus far to confirm that. Hell, at this point I suppose it could still be a "fuse".

:D

Overall she's in nice shape. I was very surprised to see the cabinet doesn't appear to use T-Molding?!

Anyway, this will be up and running shortly no doubt... making it my 7th Vector.

Wow another nice game for your collection, and vector of course. Your new machine is in very nice condition. Usually the side art is all cracked, your s looks very nice. Also because the control panel is flat most had bad cig burns. You are also correct in that OR does not have T molding. Regarding getting it goIng, how is your board set? Is there battery acid damage? I rebuilt both my bottom power supply with the big caps and my linear power supply as well I also rebuilt my monitor which had a HV diode problem, that took a while to figure out. Good luck getting yours going. I look forward to watching you trouble shoot it. I'll lend a hand where and if I can.

Now that was much easier than I'd anticipated. Essentially all I needed to do was clean her up... and replace the blacklight... 7 lamps behind marquee... 2 lamps behind coin door... and of course I will be having to come up with a battery alternative... which I am still deciding on.

She was pretty messy. Some mouse crap/piss to clean up... the odd spider-web or two... and of course a bunch of crap I don't even want to try to identify from the corners (no carcasses thankfully).

I think I've decided to keep her in "Good Original Condition" rather than restore her. I could put new side art and paint for another hundy, but why? It looks pretty damn good as it is. It passes the 5' rule without batting an eye. I'll add some "flash" shots a little later. I still have a couple piece of tape to take off the left side... and a final "wash down"...

After playing a number of games last night I think I'll order a V2000 cap kit and re-cap the monitor. There is a bit of "shake"... and some slight "flickering". I am not sure if that is PCB related or the monitor but I figured I'd start with the monitor.

Anyone ever stuck a BL bulb in the control panel marquee area? The current lamp is a little bright for my taste.

Nice pickup Friz!

I have always contended that this was some of the coolest artwork on a cabinet ever!

I had a non working one for the longest time, and missed looking at it once it left :(

Enjoy it!

Chris

Nope... it is not. The restoration forum gets very little love. I refuse to post there.

BTW - This isn't a restoration anyway...but rather a refurbish job.

Oh, I thought this was a resto. Just trying to follow the rules, Fritz.

I believe Phet put a black light in his?
As promised...
