New Product Sneak Peak: CoinUp - 1UP (Freeplay for your non-freeplay games)

The existing CoinUp has been a big success for providing virtual freeplay to games that have none but I found that it was not very 'kid friendly'. When new kids (or even adults for that matter) visited the gameroom I had to explain to them the process of coining up the game; which defeated the purpose altogether. I want to be able to tell them to just go upstairs and have fun and not have to babysit the games, making sure they all have credits on them.

So was born the CoinUp -1UP which simulates exactly what any person would do if they wanted to play a game: plop a quarter in and press start. I find it to be as close to freeplay as you can get without having to hack the ROMs etc. Works perfect for 1 and 2 starts.

Initial testing shows the device is working flawlessly. Once I feel it's all set to go I'll update here and it will be available for sale on my site.

Enjoy!

BTW: This version does NOT require you to cut any wires as it does not intercept the button's signal to the game PCB. I know a lot of you guys were not liking idea of splicing into your game's harness. This version removes all that stuff. ;)

Yeah, count me in for several of these when they're ready.

Very cool! I'd be in for a few myself.

One question, how does it work for those games that have a, for lack of a better term, a credit theft deterient circuit? Those games that have a special timing associated with the coin drop. The ones that come to mind are Sega vector games.

Just thought I'd ask.

Super cool. I think you will sell a bunch of these. Will you need one for each coin slot? Or 1 per game is good?

Like everyone else, depending on price, I more than likely will be in, this looks awesome!!!
