i just installed a new power supply. i took each wire off the old supossably broken power supply and then screwed them onto the new power supply terminal.

my power supply gets extremely hot when on and is not starting my pcb.

what does it mean when it gets that hot.

also is it possible to reverse the ac power wires?
they just both say ac120 not + or -

The power supply will get hot, though I wouldn't call it extreme.

The AC lines can't really be swapped on these power supplies. Have you checked the output voltages?

Look on the bottom of the power aupply if theres a switch between 110v or 220v

every new power supply i got came with the switch set at 220 and i have to switch it to 110 before using.

And dont worry about reversing the ac power it doesnt matter. Aslong as earthground is in the right place ac live and neutral doesnt matter which way you do it

there is no switch for 120 or 220. so i figure its just 120v since that is what it says.

still i get nothing, its not the monitor because i can turn each color up and make the screen go all red or black or white or green or blue. it just will not show the game on the screen. like its not getting the signal.

the readings i got are

5+ reads as 5-
5- reads as 5+
and 12 reads as 12

but when measuring dc dont you revesre the red and black wires from the multimeter?

and i get 5.01v to the board.

could the 12v or the 5- make the board not start?
its not playing blind or anything.

the monitor is a all white screen with very skinny white lines. about 8 of them.

the brightness works on the flyback, i can make the screen bright white or black.
it is whining a bit and when i put pressure on it it changes the pitch of the whine.

but when i first brought this home the monitor did come up with the game, so i am stumped.

i tried both my old(suspectably broken pcb) and the new one i bought off of a klov and still the same result.

SUCCESS!!

IT WAS THE EDGE CONNECTOR

but now i find out that the ikari board that i just bought, is a bootleg, it says rambo instead of ikari!

I dont recall ever seeing a power supply that couldnt be switched between 110 and 220. Sometimes it will have a switch and sometimes it uses a jumper wire you move from one post to another. All I have seen come already jumped for 110.

hey hey!

ok i have had some time to test it out. i think the edge connector is bad, i had to plug and unplug it a bunch of times and jiggle it and stuff to get it to come up.

i screwed the pcb to the side of the cab, and just those adjustments threw it off again.

i have it working now and closed and locked the cab up and placed it to the wall. so its fine now, but when i sell it or move, i will have to mess with the connector again to get it to come up.

where can i buy another one of these?

also what other boards could i put in this ikari warriors machine and they would work with the joysticks?

also i noticed that the joysticks and buttons work, even though the pack of wires with a harness that comes out of each joystick wernt even connected to the pcb. they were and still are just hanging, but the buttons and controls work. wtf?
