we're the proud owners of a very nice Mr. & Mrs. Pacman. We have our share of vintage gas pumps, coke machines, and a few arcades, but this is our first pinball. Just getting it situated. Everything seems to work fine except about half the red, and half the clear bulbs on the maze need to be replaced, and a few other small bulbs elsewhere.

Before I order bulbs I thought I'd ask a few questions.

bulb is missing in the backglass (which is amazingly in good condition). What type of bulb does that take? It appears the back plate is designed to hold 3 bulbs but there is only 1 set of sockets for it in the middle, and no sign wires were ever cut or spliced. Was this common to only have the center section with a bulb?

Second, a previous owner has removed the coin acceptors. Will any of the vintage Bally ones fit? I see a few on ebay but wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Thanks!

We've spent a few hours googling things and stumbled across that last night. After reading both I didn't find those two items listed. I've also looked through several of the vendor sites but nothing specific listed on either. Any help is appreciated!

Here it is! I did some more leg work, took measurements of the bulb and found some pieces of the broken tube down in the unit, and figured out it was an 8 watt 12" tube. reinstalled that, nothing, traced it to a bad ballast and starter. Now fixed and lit up. Installed new locks on the top and the door. going to be ordering bulbs. One of the coin price parts is gone and all the coin mechanisms are missing.

Funny, I just picked up a Mr and Mrs Pacman a week or two ago. Mine is not in playable shape...yet, but I had the same question with the light, I saw the spots for 3 lights, only saw one socket. Could you post a pic of the mounted light? I'm curious to see how it is setup. Yours looks perfect though.

I'll pop the glass off this evening and take a photo for you. It was a 12" bulb from home depot, 9 watt T-5 bulb (5/8 diameter). It went verticle in just the center of the 3 options there and the end product is what you see.

Both of my Mr/Mrs Pacs had only one bulb behind the backglass. I replaced it with a rope light and I think it looks much better.

Yeah, one light is factory stock. Bally probably originally planned on three, as it has holes for them, but changed their minds.
I like the rope light idea, may install one in mine. Seems like it would give more even lighting on the backglass.

Help!!

Bulbs arrived today, replaced about 15 of them, went to check my work. What you see is the light test mode after replacing everything that was dark. Still tons out. I checked to see if it was just dirty, no. swapped bulbs, nothing. Connections all appear tight at the board. I got the multimeter out, checked voltage at several working lights and did the same from the back of the board on the non-lit bulbs and no voltage at all. Any help in steering this rookie in the right direction would be appreciated.

See attached picture, all off bulbs are new, yet still not lit.

Thanks, I did some looking and if I'm reading the schematics correctly all the bulbs in question are on the aux light driver J1 and J2 terminals. I'm going to check the wiring continuity first then tackle the board tests after that.

Thanks for the lead, if I get over my head I may ask some more (and likely stupid) questions.
