Check out last post - Exidy Max-A-Flex Video

Thanks to a couple fellow KLOVers I have yet again mixed up the home arcade. Check out the new additions - Multi Williams (jrok) and an Exidy Max-A-Flex.

How does that multiwilliams work? I don't see the buttons for Defender/Stargate. Why the 3rd joystick? All you need is 2 for the games (or 4, if you could play 2-player Splat, but definitely not 3!).

Thats what I was thinking, weird layout. The center joystick might be a 49 way for sinistar, but I dont see how you would play stargate or defender?

The sideart on the Joust looks like it is in great shape.

Assuming the orange joystick is a 48 way from ArchRivals for Sinistar and Blaster. You could play
- Sinistar (fire and sinibomb buttons)
- Blaster (fire button)
- Joust (1 & 2 player flap buttons)
- Bubbles (joystick only)
- Robotron (blue & yellow joysticks)
- Splat! (1 player, blue & yellow joysticks)
- Defender (reverse, smart bomb, thrust and fire (no hyperspace))
- Stargate (reverse, smart bomb, thrust and fire (no hyperspace or inviso))

Given that a lot of people hate Defender and Stargate (or at least suck at it), you could turn them off and a lot of people wouldn't miss them. Aso a lot of players don't really use heperspace or inviso much(raisies hand), they might not be missed.

Ya, Defender and Stargate are disabled. Center stick is for Sinistar and Blaster :)

And, yes the Exidy Max-A-Flex is complete with all four carts and marquees. It was AvidGeeks :)

See those dirt smudges on the cpo of the Exidy? I've tried a few different things to get that off but nothing seems to clean it. Anything you guys can recommend to brighten up that cpo? Thanks :)

You suck...that Max A Flex was going to be mine...but the deal Damon and I worked out was taking too long because some of the items in deal were not completed yet...so I had to give him option to sell if he needed to....enjoy..that is a rare find.

Can you take some pics of the inside of the Max A Flex? This was basically just an Atari home computer right? That kind of oddball stuff is fascinating.

There is a few photos and info here:

It appears those 4 games are all that ever came out for it. Being it's an Atari 600XL, I am wondering if other Atari carts could be hacked to work?

Cool info, thanks... They actually look like standard Atari computer cartridges. The games that were made for that cabinet were all by a company called First Star Software. That must be who Exidy had the deal with. I think they were all released for home use too, I know I had all of them except Bristles for my 800XL.

I know the cartridges are quite rare as far as the Atari 8-bit computer line goes. They were only released (in cart form) by First Star for the Max-A-Flex. AstroChase was also released in cartridge form but by Parker Bros for the 8-bit line.
