Picked this up yesterday off Craigslist. Got it working this morning. I doubt I'll have room for it long term as I just got a new motorcycle that I need to make room for ... the wife gave me special dispensation to temporarily locate it in the living room so I can play it a bit as I've never played it before.

Only odd thing is why they drilled the hole in the front and relocated the interlock, since the coin door isn't locked. Odd. Other than this it's super clean.

LOL ... crazy hole. Interlock being used as a front on/off switch? Yikes.

What does the little RED BUTTON do on the 25c coin plastic?

that is nice.

I'll be awaiting the for sale post to see if I can afford it. :)

I'd not actually noticed that. Probably coins a credit, I just set it to free play. Years ago when I got my first Quantum it was from a free play arcade and they'd installed buttons onto all the games :(

Need to go get some 1816 bulbs as a couple of the missions aren't lit.

My guess is someone who owned it wanted a simple way to turn the game on and off from the front of the machine due to lack of space and common sense. :D

Nice Find, hopefully someday I can find one local to me to buy.

Yeah, the button is hooked to the coin mechs. I'll remove it.

I relocated the interlock back to correct location, was worried my 4yo would stick something in there otherwise. Still a bit worried he's going to use it as a doodling canvas.

I'll plug the hole, looks to be 1-3/4, level/fill and paint it. Good enough, someone else can revinyl it if they want.

All the lights work now. Cool game, hard.

Yeah, the red button on the coin door is hooked to the coin mechs. I'll remove it. Anyone have the part that originally went there?

Not sure if any repros available anywhere. :(

You need a lightsaber. Not one of the $10 ones, but the $30 "stiff bladed" ones that Walmart had a couple of years ago. One whack across the hand(which leaves no mark, and really only stings) and the 4 yo won't go anywhere near it. ;)

As for the game itself.... I've got a challenge for you:

(But first... a "Pro-Tip": As long as BOTH pads touch at the same time, and you're moving less than 15 on your speed..... you can land ANYWHERE.)

Land on that peak, and post a pic. Also, land on ANY of the vertical surfaces and post a pic. It can be done, I've done it. That's when you know you've mastered the game. :D

I've had mine for 33 years now.... While it may seem "boring" after a while, you still may want to consider keeping it. There's some really cool skill landings you can learn. Just remember, over 15 speed and you'll bounce hard. Anything over 30 is a crash.

Thanks Iggy. Interesting game. I can see why it wasn't popular in the arcades as it must have been a real quarter muncher. The 50 fuel point bonus isn't anywhere enough to keep the game going, I've not yet been able to get more than 4 consecutive landings on the easy level. it would work better if there were ways to earn more significant fuel bonuses. According to the Operator Manual, 50 is the max. I'm pretty sure it has the V1 roms so I don't have the option of bumping fuel upto 1800 units. I'll burn v2 when I get a chance. It doesn't seem like a game that works great on free play and can see why someone added the front button. Or maybe I'm missing something?

Oh and VectorCollector, I'll expect I'll survive without your congrats :shakehands:

And on this note, I fancy going upstairs and playing a couple of games.
