I picked an an APB this afternoon and have a few questions:

1)The steering wheel is loose and I cannot for the life of me figure out how it is supposed to fastened down. Granted I have not looked at it too closely but in the brief time I examined it I was confused. If anyone can take some pictures or point me to where I can find pictures I would appreciate it. The manual on KLOV doesn't load up.

2)The flashing lights don't work, I have checked the obvious and the light bulbs are good. I checked for voltage and didn't seem to be getting any at the sockets. Everything is hooked up, again I think the manual would help but it won't load.

3)Who can send me specs for the seat so that I can make one? I have the steel just need the measurements. It also looks like they were just carpeted and I will have mine upholstered with padding.

Any advice anyone can send my way I would appreciate it. And I know pics or it didn't happen so here are a couple quick cell phone shots...

The lights only work in certin times in game play (holding siren button down) If you look at the bottom side of the control panel you will see what the wheel needs. It will be pretty obvious. Before you go to the trouble of making a seat. Play the game a few times and see if you like it enough to sit in front of it long enough to need a seat.

I was holding down the siren button and it showed the sirens flashing on the car so I assume that means they should have been flashing up top too. I had a friend play the game while I was checking voltage and I could never get voltage up top. Everything is connected all fuses are good.

I looked at the wheel and I cannot for the life of me figure it out, there has to be something missing or broken. The guy I bought it from had it rigged temporarily with a piece of tie wire but that quickly failed.

I know I like the game and I am too tall to play it comfortably standing, I have to bend over to play it. Plus fabricating a seat would be a piece of cake with the measurements.

The Lights should have been working then. The seat is just 2"x2" square tube. It extends out from the game then 90s up with a 2"x2" gusset to support the corner. I am sorry I do not have the measurements. I have a cp here that is the same way. I will look at it in the morning to be able to explain it better. The same thing happens to Champ Sprints if a gorrilla trys to move them using the wheels as a handle.

The steering wheel housing unscrews from the back side of the control panel... There is a group over at coinopspace.com that has links to the manuals too.

not sure what you mean by loose steering wheel but the first thing that jumps to mind is my champ sprint with a bad steering wheel bushing. This may be your issue. Not sure.

Some old notes I have on the flashing lights:

The lights in the marquee are supposed to flash like a police car when the siren is pressed during gameplay--this behavior is controlled by a small board on the power supply assembly called the Triac board. This board is unfortunately not represented in the schematic package. When the board fails, the typical result is that the left marquee bulb will stay lit all the time, and the right one will never light up. A common cause of this is failure in one or both of the two 2N5756 triacs on the Triac PCB (small silver can looking things). These components are fairly simple to replace if you have decent soldering skills.

One source for the original replacement triacs: http://store.americanmicrosemiconductor.com/2n5756.html

This sounds like it could be the issue, I will take a picture this next week when I am at my shop. The best way to describe it would be, the steering wheel is "floating" in the control panel. There is nothing to hold the steering wheel to the CP.

Looks like I will have to work on the little board for the marque lights and hopefully that will get me flashing again.

Thanks for the responses guys, if anyone has any pictures of the steering wheel that show how it is attached I would appreciate it. Is the steering wheel bushing a part that I will be able to find or am I going to have to scratch build this part?

Well I just ordered new Triacs from Mouser hopefully that will solve the flashing light issues. And it looks like the steering wheel housing is busted, after I disassembled the steering wheel I see what the issue was.

It looks like the housing is supposed to be on the outside of the CP (when I bought it the housing was on the inside of the CP) and then there is a spacer on the inside of the CP followed up by the piece of sheet metal that bolts to the housing. Does this sound correct?

I reassembled the wheel this way and it looks like if the housing wasn't all busted up this would work but lip that holds it on the front of the CP is half missing causing the wheel to be loose.

yes, someone smashed your steering wheel and busted the plasitc housing thay holds it in place. Yes, its supposed to be on the outside and the spacer and retainer on the inside.

here is pic of what it should look like:

I think you can use the part from just about any atari driving game. From lemans to champ sprint. I crushed a few lemans and CS over the years, So I might have a good housing. I can look.
