Picked up a Super Contra today. It's in really nice shape. Monitor is a WG with no burn, bright colors. Everything works great, which is a change! Side art is in decent shape, but could be replaced if I was really anal.

I am going to put my Contra board in this machine so that I can switch between games by pressing Player 1 and 2 at the same time.
I also have the original Contra Marquee... what are your thoughts on putting it someplace on the game since it will play both? Or should I just leave it as is.

What cab was this originally?

I am also going to sell my extra Super Contra PCB and Marquee on the forums in a bit.

Oh, and this game has to have THE LAMEST SIDE ART EVER MADE!!!

I remember seeing one Super Contra back in the day, and it looked exactly like that one. I'd say there's a chance it's dedicated.

So wait... They made cabs for super contra? I thought they were all kits. There are konami stickers on the back of the cab.

Well that's cool. Didn't know that. Makes me think twice about putting the regular contra marquee on it. I am still going to put both boards in though.
Arent these machines pretty common?

How would you go about having both boards in it and be able to switch between them? My friend has a very nice Contra cabinet and it'd be cool to be able to switch between that and Super Contra.

Thanks,
Greg

I imagine he will use a JAMMA switcher board. You plug 2 or more JAMMA boards into it, and your wiring harness into it. Then you can switch between games with a press of both P1 and P2 buttons.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll look into that!

Much appreciated...

Got the double JAMMA kit today and installed it in the Super Contra w/ Contra.
Damn, it's sweet to have both games in the cab. The kit allows you to switch between games by simply pressing Player 1 and Player 2 at the same time. Got it from Mike's Arcade and I would highly recommend it.

Dude. That's badass. Great score there.

For everyone else's enjoyment, here's the same photo I sent rainman earlier. It is (what I believe) to be the left-overs of a true dedicated Super Contra cab. The two green lines are not painted on. They are on the white vinyl. Before this cab was converted to a Neo Geo, it appears there was a 1/2 length sideart which would have been placed in the dead zone. The lines seem to stop perfectly where the Super C art would fit in.

Very strange. Anyone know what this cab was back in the day? Can anyone confirm this identity as a Super C?

The side view looks just like mine. Any Konami stickers on the back or inside? I doubt it, but you never know. I just found a huge mouse nest in my Punch Out behind the marquee. I expect to find Jimmy Hoffa in a cab someday....
